Okay return the Mac and order this. Same panel as used in the Mac but cheaper and has HDMI, Display Port, VGA and DVI connections. Read the forum message for further info.

The problem I see is that from what I understand, unless you use a Dual Link DVI cable and port, you won't get the full resolution.

If that's the case, she'd be better off finding a good 27" monitor with a 1920x 1080 resolution.

Yeah, those newer Cinema Displays are BS. I don't know if there's any way to get them working without a Mac or a compatible graphics card. Which is silly because the older models would work just fine with a DVI to Mini DisplayPort cable.

If she wants a monitor of that size with quality IPS panel, there are a few options including the one mentioned above. If she wants an Apple monitor because they look good, have a glossy screen, and because of the bells and whistles, she's probably out of luck.
