I know nothing about Mark Simpson but that is a cool signing.

Not unless something has changed. It was announced at his signing that he would be spending this season in Sweden.

Interesting fact looking at Gallant's EP page. He had a 0 point season in the Q, played 32 games, 133 PIMs but no goals or assists. That's like half a season, kind of remarkable imo and he's battled his way to an AHL contract, not bad.

Simpson is a local boy for me here he is a great story.
Cut from Midget AAA and played Highschool for a while, undrafted to the Q from Midget so went to Junior A, Signed by Q team, undrafted obviously to NHL and not really a look even. Played 4 years for UNB now signed to an AHL deal.
I would not be surprised if he eventually makes the NHL that's just the way his career has gone. Great kid cant wait to see what he can do.

Reminiscent of George Pelawa, who was from Bemidji (but would have attended the University of North Dakota).
Also, the last guy the Flames signed out of Bemidji State turned out pretty good for the team (assuming Otto was the last guy).

Are there any examples of University players signing at 24-25 years old that've gone on to prolonged NHL careers?

Placeholder until Wolf and Chechelev enter the pro ranks.
Parsons needs to play in the AHL this season.

All four Canadian-based teams may have to face off only against each other, LOL.
Manitoba Moose, Toronto Marlies, Belleville Senators and Laval Rocket.

Have to believe that only a limited number of teams will participate and NHL teams will be sharing. Can’t be too long a season either.

AHL Division alignment looks like this. Charlotte (FLA), Milwaukee (NSH), and Springfield (STL) have opted out.
Binghamton (NJD), Ontario (LAK) and San Diego (ANA) will all play games out of their NHL team's practice facility.
Providence (BOS) will play ouf of Marlborough, MA.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
AHL schedule is not finalized yet, but will feature varying schedule lengths by division. Minimum is 24 games played per team.
Pacific division is aiming for 38-42 GP. Other divisions will range from high of 40 GP down to 24 GP.

It's primarily an NHL-CHL issue, but if major junior hockey does not start up again and NHL/CHL allow it, junior-aged players WILL be eligible to play in the AHL this season. Must have been 18 years old by Sept. 15.
(No draft eligible players will be eligible for AHL.)
