I'm not sure I see him playing all that many events leading up to Roland Garros in the hopes he can be fresh for both that and Wimbledon. I'd rather he takes it a little slower so he can hopefully have a shot to finish the year playing events and not rehabbing.

it's really cool how this site now filters the rankings by age
https://live-tennis.eu/en/atp-ranking-under-18
AA is the best under 18 player by a mile.
Shapovalov and AA are 1st and 3rd respectively under 19

Speaking of FAA, he's playing a ATP Challenger event in Spain this week, he won his match yesterday and plays again tomorrow against Guido Andreozzi (ranked #140).

Honestly at this point I'd rather him go hard on clay and not even bother with Wimbledon or grass. I know he won't but it would give him a better shot at another US Open title.

Zverev will be a tough test for Rafa, will be interesting to see how the match goes. I'm just so happy hes finally back. This is the arena where they will be playing in Spain, its normally a bull fighting ring....safe to say a little nicer than the Coral or Rexall

Very good return for Rafa as he takes out Kohlschreiber in straights 2-2-3. He is looking to be in great form especially after being away since January, needs to clean up his serve tho.
I read a stat on the ATP website which broke down why Rafa is so dominate on clay and it said he breaks opponents 42% of the time on clay. That stat is just absurd, so for every 10 games his opponents serve he wins 4 and they win 6.

Perhaps the future of women's tennis clash in Japan tonight as 17 year old Bianca Andreescu of Canada takes on 17 year old Destanee Aiava of Australia. Bianca has been on a nice run of late, lost in the finals of an ITF event in Japan last week and is into the semi-finals this week.

Can we have a separate Nadal thread? I like tennis, but don't need to hear about the wonderful world of Rafa, every second post.

W/E man don't be a hater. Clay court season must suck for you if you don't like hearing about Rafa. He's the worlds #1 ranked tennis player right now, coming back from a 3 month injury I expect people will be talking about him and his first match back on a tennis forum

Germany leads Spain 2-1 after a 5 set doubles win.
Can Zverev beat Nadal tomorrow?

Clay court season sucks for most tennis fans, and it has nothing to do with Rafa. The length of the clay season should be as short as grass. Clay tennis is just boring and promotes negative tennis way too much, and is getting worse and worse as ball bashers who can't hit winners become more prominent. Once Rafa does retire though I do expect clay tennis to fall off since no one likes it, but with an all-time great you can tolerate it enough, I guess.

I probably had a better chance than Zverev. He will probably eventually win a major or two, but based off the last two years it doesn't appear he has what it takes for high level, five set tennis.

Certainly early in tournament anti-tennis is used to advance for lessor players I get that. But the very best still are agressive like Wawrinka and Nadal and they are rewarded for it, there final last year was an amazing match. I wish North Americans weren't so useless on the surface would help the popularity here for sure, Agassi is the only American i remember who was pretty good on Clay.
Rafa wins today in straight sets. It was his 106th best of 5 match on Clay.....he's won 104 of them
