Flames Practice notes Jan 4. Rittich says he is ready to go.

Brian Costello @bcostellothn
When #Flames play in Philadelphia 1 pm eastern time Saturday, that will be Calgary’s fourth game in 4.54 days (109 hours). That has to be an NHL record.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Gillies, Rittich and Smith all on the ice for #Flames practice.

They can. They are at the 23 man roster and Rittich was never put on IR.

They won't though. They will send Gillies down as soon as they can for the cap space.

The news from Flyers practice is that Flames will face Carter Hart with newly claimed McKenna backing up. Neuvirth is day to day with injury.

Looks like Rittich is good to go.

Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
Jon Gillies has basically been a spectator at #Flames practice...a promising sign that David Rittich could be ready to return vs. #Flyers tomorrow. #CGYvsPHI

I don't get Peters' fascination with Bennett. Frolik is a better solution with Backlund and Tkachuk. Bennett should be playing with Ryan and Hathaway for the foreseeable future.

I hate seeing 3M broken up, especially since Frolik seems to have more jam with them. But I can't fault a coach for trying to tap into a young players' toolbox to see if he can get him to break out a bit more. Bennett's taken big steps this season in most aspects of his game, except for the offence.

I get what Peters is trying to do. But I agree it's also annoying sometimes.

I just dont get what Peters is doing with that second line....they are just better with Frolik there....full stop.

Has to be "a thing" between the two of them at this point, and thats no good for anyone.

3M works better at home when they can control the match ups is my guess. On the road against a heavier Flyers team maybe they want more jam?

I think Peters just likes to throw different looks out there. It's worked so far.

Yeah, its hard to criticize the coach given the teams overall performance and standing. I liked the lines the past few games but I get it.

in the dream world that i live in we got to keep Ferland in the Canes deal and we never signed James Neal. I think a line of Bennett - Janko - Ferland could have been a lot of fun

I would switch Frolik and Bennett, then Neal and Hathaway. In fact take Neal out for a skilled fourth line with Dube. Hathaway/Jankowski/Bennett play very well together.

I think Dube/Ryan/Czarnik could start lighting up other teams fourth lines once they build chemistry
