Default Chirp Crosby well enough? He rewards you.

Great story.

Quote:
Sidney Crosby has heard all the taunts, chirps and mockery a hockey player can hear during his career. The biggest star in the NHL, he's also perhaps its most derided: from Washington Capitals fans showing up to games with pacifiers to signs in Philadelphia challenging his manhood.

But on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden, the ridicule was so scathing that the Pittsburgh Penguins captain actually felt compelled to reward it.

Nick Lipeika, a New York Rangers fan, received an autographed stick from Crosby after the Penguins' 7-2 rout of the Rangers in New York. The inscription read: "Good chirps. Take it easy on me next time!"

First of all, all class move by Sid.

Second I remember that Chelios had an ongoing feud with a Calgary fan who sat behind the penalty box and chriped him, Chelios tried to bribe him with a stick, the fan thanked him for it and upped his game for a while.

From the article.

"Hey Crosby, you were voted third-toughest Canadian, behind Celine Dion and a close second to Avril Lavigne."

"Hey Crosby, when Gatorade wanted a tough guy, Justin Bieber turned them down so they settled for you."

"Hey Crosby, Malkin wants to know where your Calder Memorial Trophy is." (Note that for all of Crosby's accomplishments, NHL Rookie of the Year was not one of them, while Malkin won it in 2007.)

Pretty impressive string of taunts considering Crosby was only in the box once. And a pretty cool move by Crosby.

Once, I've had two tickets to the Ducks@Flames game sitting in row 1 behind the visitors' bench, right where the players come in and out of the gate. From a watching the game perspective, these seats aren't any good; all you can see, really, is the attack zone action. But, man, for everything else, it was totally worth it. I could hear Anaheim players talk to each other about Flames players and about their own plays, I could hear their coaches talking to them. However; the most entertaining experience came from the two guys in row 5 chirping at Getzlaf and Perry, constantly, throughout all three periods. "Hey, Getzlaaaaaf, do you wear wigs at parties..." "Hey, Peeeeerryyyy, does your neck hurt from turtling.... ". At one point, Getzlaf turned around and started to shout back, but then he just broke up laughing and turned back to the ice.

Overall, I can't say I enjoyed this whole heckling thing, but I sure have heard a lot of it that night and, to be honest, I did have a few laughs. I didn't know some people make it their goal to heckle other team players. Apparently, this is a thing for some.

Or reading even a little bit of the original post. Now *that's* weird.

Our seats have a fairly direct line into the visitors bench. Zuluking has a particularly booming voice at times and we've gotten some good reactions.

Similar to the Crosby thing one game against Dallas we were jawing Steve Ott. Nothing really imaginative, a lot of "HEY OTT! NICE JOB WORKING THE GATE!" or just a simple "YOU SUCK". There was enough that Ott responded at one point. Finally, as the game ended the predictable way back then when the Stars always beat us, when they were about to skate off Zuluking yells down "YOU STILL SUCK OTT!" At that point Ott looked up motioned with his stick and flipped it up into the stands for ZK. That game used stick is probably holding up an important corner of ZK's garage.
