Icon60 Lightning re-sign Yanni Gourde (6 years, $5.166m AAV)

deserved. Fantastic little player and another gem unearthed by the Lightning.

Seems like a pretty big contract considering he's had one good year. Not saying he won't keep it up but he's played 116 NHL games at 26 years old.

That seems like a huge steal.

So Tampa gets a guy like this out of nowhere, then signs him long term for only 5 mill?

He's talented, but that's a lot for such a small sample size.

Oh right, Yzerman isn't the GM of the Lightning anymore. It's now Julien Brisebois.

How much is Point going to get? A lot of money tied up.

I honestly have no clue who that is. For sure I have seen him play when the Flames play TB but no memory at all....and he's a multimillionaire lol.

One of the rare players who play as an overa player in the CHL and go on to have an impact in the NHL.

The contract does seem steep for a player with one good year played though. Add to that the no trade clauses he gets too. Seems like a gamble for TB.

Seems to be an OK player recently but seems like he got way too much money and term for having one above average year and kind of disappearing in the playoffs. Before that he spends 5 years in the minors averaging about .6 or .7 PPG.

I'd be a little worried if the Flames did that deal, but then again I don't watch the bolts much so maybe I'm dead wrong.

25 goals and 64 points last year, PPG pace so far this season, pending UFA. In all honesty, it's a good deal for Tampa despite the relatively small sample size. But again, him tearing it up early this season probably convinced them that last season wasn't a fluke. He's been great next to Point.

Will be interesting with their cap situation though, Brayden Point will command a ton of money too. Wouldn't be surprised if they had to sacrifice a guy like Killorn to make it work financially.

I have seen a few of the bolts game and he has looked solid. The Bolts are really deep though, and are developing so many good players.

I have him on my Fantasy team and he has been producing consistently this year, his 12 points are spread fairly evenly across the 12 games he has played.

This forces the Lightning to make some moves in the near future.

I wonder if they have to move Callahan. All of their D except McDonough and Segachev are FAs next year. And Sergachev has only one more year on his ELC.

Surprised that people haven't heard of Gourde.

That said, this is... risky. Think it's better than them committing to, say, Namestnikov... but yikes, they still need to sign Point.

You wonder if Stamkos will be dealt at some point. And Strålman will probably walk in free agency.
