I think Hall's baggage is a big factor.

Well... I guess yeah he’s taller. His bags will probably weigh a bit more. More gear, more clothes.
But I think the training staff can handle it.

Seems like Hall has changed a lot since leaving the grease fire, much better player now. That oiler team was/is toxic, they really didn't seem to care about losing. That's what happens when you give a bunch of kids $36M contracts coming off their ELC's with no real leadership to guide them, it's party time. Jersey will extend him after next year, they have a crap ton of cap space. Assuming he keeps up his play from last year he's going to get a huge contract 80M ish, I don't think he'd be a fit here for that reason.

Character issues usually get sorted on the team. Hall had Horcoff, Ference and "no captain" as his Captains. Coming to Calgary he'd get Gio.

I was going to university/working the bar scene in edmonton when hall was drafted. The stories you've heard are likely true (I have many), but I've also heard somewhat more radical ones about flames players.
Hall proved he's one of the best players in the league this season. I would definitely court him- but I think NJ will hang on to him for his career.

It really depends. There's obviously times and places to party. But hangovers from alcohol/drugs are a real thing and having multi-millionaire althletes playing games in a subpar condition while hungover is a very real concern. There's a line and you want your players to be professional and not cross the line on a regular or even semi-regular basis. You got a few days off? Party your face off the first night or two. You got a game the next day? Maybe don't go off the deep end.
The partying is not a problem in and of itself. It should not be shamed in general. But it should definitely be questioned when it comes within 24 of a game. Having your players doing large amounts of alcohol and drugs before a game day is not ideal. Having a lot of that kind of behaviour on a team can probably contribute to losing. I'm sure there's Flames that have issues with it at times but they are also probably quite young still. People change and mature and it may not be a chronic issue for the vast majority.
I'm not sure any team really wants guys who are partying 7 nights a week. There's got to be some boundaries and control.

Talk of not wanting the current MVP of the league because he has baggage is quite silly. How can an MVP have too much baggage to be good for the team? How can the Most Valuable Player not be valuable because of baggage? How can a player who has baggage be awarded with the MVP?
If Hall is detrimental to his team then he must come cheap. I'll take two of him please.

Let’s just see if we can have both in 2 years? I don’t really see New Jersey doing much and Hall is someone who will explore free agency and I’m sure him signing for the flames would be great on multiple fronts for him. Calgary boy and gets to stick it to the Oilers again. It just makes sense Taylor!!

Also, where did the idea that because people like to party means they’re bad people come from? Guess what, most 18-25 year olds like to party.

I agree that Hall will explore free agency. I think he will have many suitors and this is a great time to do so at his age, with the massive contracts you're seeing with key players.
But the Flames are not going to have much luck squeezing him in, when you have to think about signing Hanifin, Lindholm, then Tkachuk next offseason. Even after Frolik and Stone get traded/test UFA and buying Brouwer out I don't think this is long-term viable in terms of cap management.

Cap goes up, Neal doesn't have a NTC, Smith possibly gone and a kid in net on a ELC, there will be lots of options.

Hall isn't likely to make free agency. He's had injuries in the past, when Jersey puts a 8x10M contract in front of him he'll sign it.
