https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-all-sta...?tid=277549086
Quote:
The National Hockey League announced today that Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning (Atlantic), Paul Maurice of the Winnipeg Jets (Central), Todd Reirden of the Washington Capitals (Metropolitan) and Bill Peters of the Calgary Flames (Pacific) will serve as the head coaches for the 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Weekend, which will be held Jan. 25-26 in San Jose.
Under the All-Star selection process, the head coach of the team with the highest points percentage (points earned divided by total possible points) in each of the four divisions through games of Saturday, Jan. 5 - the halfway point of the regular season - will guide the respective All-Star rosters.
Cooper's Lightning (.805, 32-7-2), Maurice's Jets (.650, 25-13-2), Reirden's Capitals (.650, 24 12 4) and Peters' Flames (.643, 25-13-4) already have secured the highest points percentages in their respective divisions through today's games.

Great to see and well deserved.
Amazing, that even with the season Calgary is having, the Cooper has TB at .805 and all three of the other coaches are at .650 +/-

Bill deserves every accolade that comes his way.
I hope he does whatever he wants with this opportunity but given the type of guy he is it wouldn’t surprise me if he stepped aside to let Deboer “coach” the all star game in front of the home crowd. Just seems like the classy kind of thing Peters would do given other tiny samples from this year. Guy is just a class act.

This is Peter's chance to assign McDavid role as the enforcer
"Connor, I need you to make a statement and fight Chara"
McDavid looks back in disgust
Peter then taps him on the shoulder... "Let's go"

Because of the short mini-games they play for the All Star Game, even if McDavid never left the ice, it would be about the same amount of ice time he normally gets.

Bill Peter's has been every ounce of what Gulutzan wasn't. Peter's has transformed this team into what it's potential could have been last year.
Scoring, possesion time, PP, PK and D structure all massive improvements under Peter's.
Having a straight rookie D pair and replacing 1 injured rookie D for yet another Is just small yet significant example of what a fantastic job he has done.

Also: In-game adjustments and understanding how to light a fire under struggling players to get them going (Brodie, Frolik, Jankowski on the PK, Hathaway)
