It's so hard to see all of this happen the way it has. I was a fan of Novak's prior to all his antivax stuff, and was hoping to see him go down as the undisputed GOAT. Now the only outcome I can hope for is for him to never win another tennis match for the rest of his life.

Based on the latest info that KFF posted on the previous page, I think the correct decision would be to cancel Novak's visa and not allow him to play in the Aussie Open and I think that's a bummer because he's arguably the greatest player in the history of tennis. The optics of allowing him to still compete in the Aussie Open after presenting false documents would be terrible. The other thing to keep in mind is that the medical exemption exists for people who can't get vaccinated due to harm the vaccines may cause, it's not there for people who choose not to be vaccinated.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the men's draw is coming out in the next 24 hours and obviously it would be preferable to know Novak's status prior to placing guys in the bracket only to have to do a massive adjustment if Djokovic is removed from the tourney.
Imagine that all this time and effort and money that he's putting into this could have been avoided if he'd spent 15 seconds of his time to get one completely free J&J jab at any point in the last 12 months.

These are the two biggest things. If Australia is going to just wilt and let themselves appear to be dominated by another celebrity it is pretty sad and downright damming that they would ask the public to adhere to such strict measure for so long and not be willing to uphold something so basic for any traveler.
Maybe it's just me but not lying to customs and not exploiting medical loopholes for personal gain (and really not ignoring public health measures) seems like pretty basic concepts and you know, the most basic level of being a decent human there are when traveling the world, especially during these times.

he already allowed the medical establishment to defile his body with elbow surgery a few years back (without which his career would have ended at 12 slams); it resulted in him crying with guilt for several days straight. there's no way he's going to allow such an invasion on the sanctity of his body again.

Just to emphasize how the men's draw will be impacted...
Darn. It would have been much more fun (CHAOS) if there was just no top seed in his quarter.
