The play of the top-6 is so far more important than who gets the 10 4th line minutes.
The Flames are late getting their starting lines built due to the meaningless Chinese exhibition and they don't seem to see any urgency.
The line-up tonight has Lindholm and Ryan who are valid top 6 options skating with guys that will likely be top-6 in Stockton.

In two years Brodie, Hamonic and Stone are all UFA.
Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Valimaki
Kylington - Kulak

I don't see why we wouldn't resign Brodie. It's not like he's going to break the bank.
Kulak being our 2nd oldest defense is probably unnecessary haha.

I could see both Brodie and Hamonic being re-signed. I also am doubtful that all of our top D prospects pan out - I could be wrong, but it seems unlikely.

If you look back a few seasons ago, most of the defenceman I had pencilled in, aren't even in the NHL anymore.
You're right, it rarely (if ever) happens.

I'll be surprised if he's our #6 by the end of this season.

Love the third pairing. If those two can gel, Flames may be able to put together a package to address a need.
Surprised Robinson is on the second line while Quine is on the fourth.

Like that they're testing Dube on the wing (more specifically the off wing, where I think he'd slot in best on the 3rd line)
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Dube - Ryan - Czarnik
Bennett - Jankowski - Frolik

Maybe Adam Fox didn't see room for himself in this top 6.

I'm with you on this. One my Gulutzan complaints (and to some extent the number of PTOs) was that the core team didn't spend much time playing together in the preseason.
This year the top 11F and probably top 5D are known but not necessarily the lines. The candidates for the remaining spots should be a small list by now. Use the games after tonight to get the team ready, play a couple bubble F and D each game to help with the final selections.
