1972 Impala as a hand-me down after high school grad. Brown, 2-door custom coup. Built and consumed gas like a tank.

LOL. Blue 2-door Datsun B210 was my second car. It didn't need a key to start; there was a big green ignition button. I never locked the doors, because, well, who'd still an old Datsun, right? One morning, both seats were down flat and there was an empty beer bottle left in between. Someone had a cheap datenight in it...

Some of you had really awesome cars.

My Dad got a lease car through work, would get a new one every 4 years, and typically buy the car after the lease as a family car. Being the youngest with sisters who had moved out/got their own car the family car was mostly mine.

First up was a light blue ~1982 Pontiac Parisienne

The choice of luxury is highly debatable Pontiac, I don’t remember it being anything but big. Anyone else remember learning to parallel park these beasts? I remember as it got older it would flood like the Seine in the winter. I had a pair of plyers and a screwdriver in the glove box. Plyers were originally to get the wingnut off the carburettor and the screwdriver was used to prop the air valve open. Started up like a champ with enough air.

Next up was a Pontiac 6000 LE. Same as this but a darker blue. (the Parisienne was this colour). As an aside, people make videos of weird things on YouTube. Why would you do this? Car looks in amazing shape though.

Like the Parisienne this one also had a quirk. At air temps hovering around the freezing mark my 6000 had a habit of stalling when you made a right hand turn. It would happen once a trip, and not every trip, and then be fine. I got proficient at tossing the car in neutral, turning the ignition to fire it up, popping it back in drive, hitting the gas and finishing the corner.

I got mine when I was 16, it was a total pos, lol. It had a sunroof that one day on the highway came loose and flew off and smashed on the road behind me. I could not find a replacement at an auto wreckers so I got a piece of weather treated wood and cut it to size and caulked that puppy in there. Good times....

Bought this at a US base out of Frankfurt when I was posted in Lahr. When our base closed in 93, I brought it over and drove it another 4 years. It’s average speed in Europe was 160km/hr and I topped it at 243km/hr (on the autobahn). I figure any sudden movement and I was done - but I was young and dumb!

I got mine up to 200km/h on Hwy1. Probably the most fun and terrifying moment at the time (21yrs old).

Some drunk kid decided to jump on my car and smash the pass side window. Insurance wrote it off but I wish I had bought it back. The car was still in good condition for being 20 years old. Can't believe I got $2200 for it.

The insane part about those speeds was that car only had 110hp. What’s more insane is that the European spec of the same vehicle 130hp and a bubble on the hood! First time I saw that I almost keeled over. The mechanic said he increase it to 180 but I might be remembering wrong. What you can do with no catalytic converter!

Loved this car. The stance of it, the sound the turbo engine. It had so many issues but I didn't care one bit!

1980 Chevrolet Malibu. Two door and gold in colour. I was the 2nd owner and I bought it in 1997 with only around 65,000 km on it. Bought it from my parent's friend's aunt who was driven around most of the time and rarely drove the vehicle herself, especially in the last 12 years she had it.

Size:
Spoiler!

I still see it around Lethbridge, still owned by the people I sold it to in 2005. They put in a larger engine. If I ever won the lottery I would walk up to their house and tell them to name the price because I'm buying it back. It was such a smooth ride.

God damn, I loved that car, and never felt so bad about material loss as when I crashed it. If you're ever driving northbound on Ogden road, about to exit eastbound on to Blackfoot, you'll notice all the light posts on the right hand side are old rusty ones, except for one.
