Broncos get Hepponiemi and Steenbergen back from juniors. They get Malenstyn back from injury. They add Fyten, Estephan and Nagel up front. They add Skinner in net and Anderson from the Cougars on D.

Nice job loading up haha

Edit: plus they already added Gennaro earlier

Those picks the canes got might end up being high ones with all the loading up the Broncos are doing now.

Barlage wins it for the Canes in the shoot out.

He's gonna be good. Big kid, great set of hands.

Sounded like Blocker looked pretty good too.

Great job by Anholt getting futures like this despite his team sitting in a playoff spot.

The Canes also dealt overage Dman Riddle a few days ago to Van for overage forward Brad Morrison. He had two goals tonight in his debut. Sounds weird to say but with all these trades, it might jolt this team into some consistency, because with Morrison essentially replacing Estephan, and Skinner really not playing great this year the Canes might actually not have lost a ton for the rest of this season, and most assuredly gained a ton for the future.

I bet Anholt would like that Tarzwell for Zablocki trade he made with Red Deer back though.

Haven’t really noticed him but I’m in Moose Jaw and have only caught 2 SC games.

He was used in a depth role by SC but you know thats going to change in Lethbridge. He's going to be a stud. Big frame, can force his way to the net with the pick.

So the Pats just sent a 1st round pick, a 2nd round pick, and two 3rds to Saskatoon. The Blades send a 1st and a 2nd to Medicine Hat. Jesus, at some of the prices in the trades being made.

I believe Regina's remaining picks (5th round and higher) in next three drafts are: 2018: 3rd round, 2019: 4th round & two 5th rounders, 2020: 4th round & 5th round. That's going to hurt for a long time.

Regina needs to do something, they don't want to get embarrased at the Mem cup.

Ouch on the price that Regina paid. Guess that's part and parcel of hosting the Memorial Cup. Wagner going pro didn't help their cause.

Barlage looks like he's going to be a really good player in this league. Tough for Anholt to send out those players, but with the Central division so weak this year they should still make the playoffs and will be much better off in seasons down the road.

Go big or go home, that’s what they say.

And that’s exactly what the Saskatoon Blades and Regina Pats did to kick start Wednesday morning of the 2018 WHL Trade Deadline, striking a three-way deal involving the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The Blades bring in the widest variety of assets, landing 1998-born forward Max Gerlach from the Tigers, overage goaltender Tyler Brown from the Pats and then four draft picks all courtesy of the Pats – first- and second-round picks in 2020, a third-round pick in 2019 and a third-round pick in 2021.

Headed to the Queen City to join the Pats for their Mastercard Memorial Cup run is overage forward Cameron Hebig and 1998-born goaltender Ryan Kubic, both courtesy the Blades.

Rounding out this relatively complex transaction, the Tigers receive 2000-born forward Bryan Lockner from the Regina Pats and two draft picks from the Blades – a first-round pick in 2020 and a second-round pick in 2021.

Zablocki flipped to the Royals for some picks. Figured Anholt might want a mulligan on that one considering the direction he's gone since dealing Tarzwell. Ah well.

Canes also flipped a pick for 2000 born Keltie Jeri-Leon who's now heading to his 3rd team this season (Tr-City -> Kamploops -> Lethbridge). They also flip a pick for 2001 born Michael Horon who is a hometown kid playing AAA in Lethbridge.

Holy crap Brandon just dealt Kale Clague to Moose Jaw for a massive haul.

I guess they are conceding the Eastern Conference arms race to Moose Jaw/Swift Current?

Wow

Brandon also deals Kaspick to Victoria for another haul of picks/prospects.

Pretty ballsy selling like that with the 3rd best record in the league, even if it's also the 3rd best record in the division.

Yep it seems weird to see Brandon pushing the sell button with their record, but with the Pats, Broncos and Warriors all loading up this will look pretty good for them in the future.

Canes deal Brady Pouteau back to Regina for an 7th rounder this year.

Hopefully they can get one or two of their 16 year old Dmen playing a bit now.

Yeah it's almost a genius move I guess.

Moose Jaw is clipping along at 0.821 point % and Swift Current is 0.726 point% despite missing Hepponiemi and Steenbergen for a month, and they just LOADED UP yesterday.

Regina is going to the Memorial Cup and have been forced to load up, so in a couple years Brandon will probably be the king of that division again by selling when those other three are all buying.

Would be pretty funny if they upset one of the two giants in round 1 though despite the sell job haha.

Just to live in a "what if" world for a minute, imagine if Brandon still had 19 year old Nolan Patrick on their team if Philly had decided to send him back this year.

They'd likely be just as much of a threat as Moose Jaw and Swift Current and probably wouldn't have been selling today.

Are the guys Hitmen picked up any decent? They have a lot 99 and 00 born players on the roster.

How is the Hitmen future looking for those who follow WHL closely? thanks.

None of the D picked up are eye poppers really. Just big and solid Dmen. Schmeimann and Krebs are both '99s and should be solid 19 year olds next year. Zamula is probably the best of the bunch and as a '00 born has a couple seasons left.

Couple of the forwards they added are nice though:

Focht - former 7th overall in bantam draft (2015), '00 born and already producing at the WHL level and 100+ WHL games already

Stotts - former 10th overall in bantam draft (2015), '00 born and since coming over to CGY from Swift has scored 15 points in 16 games

The forward prospect Prokop is supposedly committed to the NCAA and isn't really high profile anyways, as he's '00 born and still yet to suit up in the WHL. Maybe he will stay and end up with the Hitmen though, there must be a reason they traded for him.

The goalie prospect Hein is solid. 3rd rounder last year and a '02 born. 6'2 already at just 15. Could be a good one but goalies are goalies...

Sanders is a '98 goalie and Chaulk is a '97 forward, so nothing really to see there.

Not a fan of Clouston but he did a good job of upgrading his 2000 born depth. Bryan Lockener is a very promising young player. Very responsible 2 way player. Odds are he would have been taken in the first 2 rounds if he didnt have the NCAA scholarship to Denver University. Elijah Brown has the the tools to be a PPG in the league with his speed, skill, and creativity. They acquired him another trade for Seattle. Can't also forgot Ryan Chyzowski either.

I still can't figure out why Regina traded Brown for a goalie that has never been near the playoffs and lost the starters job to a 16 yr old. His career save percentage is also in the 800s. Head scratcher for sure.

A Warrior D with Clague, Woo, Brook, Zaitsev, Sosunov and Schuldhaus.... 3 lines that can score. Good lord. lol

So together, Red Deer, Brandon, Calgary and Prince George own 23 of first 66 picks in this year's draft, and 8/22 first round picks in 2019. Sneak preview of the contenders for the 2022-2023 WHL title?
