Has Poirier slowed down the past couple weeks? I thought he was close to a PPG for most of the year.

Around the trade deadline, the Sea Dogs aquired a top D-man in Vincent Sevigny, who has 31 pts in 32 games since coming over. This makes an already good-looking blueline look crowded. To my knowledge, Sevigny was on the top pair with William Villeneuve, and Poirier was with Kuznetsov on the second pair. My guess is that Poirier's numbers have suffered because Kuz has been out for the most part with injuries. Flames1217 watches the games, so he can speak to this more accurately than I can.

This is 100% the case. Poirier has been on the second pairing lately with Desroches. Sévigny is the best defenseman in the Q, so it's only normal that he plays above him.
Poirier, like Francis has been victim of some sorts to playing on the deepest team in the league. Poirier had the chance to play above others for a better part of the year whereas from the get-go Francis has played second fiddle to Dufour.
Francis has been playing lights out lately and is playing better than Dufour, Poirier is polarizing though. He is super super talented but still makes some horrible decisions and has really bad gap control. He has huge upside for sure but he has a ton of work to do. Yesterday I listened to the game on the radio and Francis dominated. Poirier had a very quiet night.
Another thing to consider when it comes to Poirier's lack of scoring lately has to do with Kuz's injury. The pair work really well together as Kuz makes up for Poiriers lack of defensive prowess. Kuz is really good at protecting the line and can make up for the gaffs thus allowing Poirier to play to his strengths and not have to worry about always getting beat and scored on.
The Sea Dogs will likely will the Q if they can get past the Remparts. It's very encouraging to see three of our prospects as key cogs to that team and hopefully they can go really far at the memorial cup, they certainly have the team to do it.

I really like Beck. That was a beauty goal too. Just great, unrelenting pressure and good hands. He's my late round, dark horse prospect.

Just my opinion, but I like Beck as much as any prospect in our system, including Pelletier and Zary. Hes the only member of the 67s who had over a ppg, and he was way over. Nobody else on that team was even close to a ppg. If he had a full season on a better team, his numbers would be eye-popping.

Agreed. His early season start was pretty impressive, and if he didn't miss games and lose momentum, who knows what his play and numbers would have looked like. Hoping he's a late round gem.
