Dreger: Markstrom trade won't happen unless NJ includes Mercer and higher draft pick

he says that Murray Edwards still feels like the team is playoff contender and only way that changes if NJ comes back with a package including Mercer and a higher draft pick so that management can take the deal to ownership and recommend they take it

Hmm so if the rumours about the OG Markstrom trade are true I wonder if this is how it all played out:
-Flames and Devils agree in principle to Markstrom for Mercer and a 1st
-Conroy talks to Markstrom and he waves his NTC
-Talks resume and Devils pull Mercer from the offer and put in Holtz
-Conroy backs away
