Now. If you'll excuse me, my ride to work is ready to go.

Lets hope we can make it past the first marker this time and avoid the Wampa.

As do I. As do I.

So, is there enough water now for us to use this summer or still expecting restrictions?

Tough to say, bit of a mixed bag. Skoki is higher than last year, but on the lower end of normal. Sunshine is still low. The rest are mostly Elbow and further south drainage, but not spectacular either. Given the deficit from last year, I think we are still probably facing trouble.

These graphs should be live if you re-visit this post later.

I think it really depends on spring rainfall.

Up way north is already a dust bowl and probably going to be fire central once the lightning arrives.

The Alberta government declared an early start to the 2024 wildfire season last month.

The season traditionally has run from March 1 to Oct. 31, but with such an unseasonably mild winter and low overall precipitation, the start date was bumped up 10 days earlier than usual to Feb. 20.

Ideally most mountain snowpacks would be above average to make up for the last few years. Getting average precipitation isn't enough right now.

EC weather carrot for Sunday. Fingers crossed that warm front advances a day or two for Easter weekend.

I hate how cold spring is here. Every October I try to lie to myself, but nope, it really is cold here way more often than not.

Spring in Southern Alberta is terrible. Stays cold and brown (if not white) for far too long. Then it melts and we're left with a muddy mess. Fall is definitely the superior season.

Yep. Grass is still green, streets and sidewalks are clean and free of gravel. Also if you are in an area with abundant trees, fall can be the most beautiful time of the year with the shades of red, orange, and yellow leaves. Calgary spring is a transition stage where the aftermath of winter leaves mud, brown grass, salt stained streets ripe with potholes, gravel accumulation, dirty sidewalks, etc. It's the ugliest time of year between now and middle of May.

Don't forget snow mold and allergies. IMO a windy 4C day in late April feels colder than anything else all year.

I also just feel tired a lot in the spring. I feel tired now.

**** YYC is fully closed. Nobody in or out. Inbounds diverting to Edmonton. Check times with your airline if you're flying or expecting anybody.
