Apparently the US isn't too pleased about the ISIS militants being bused from Lebanon into Eastern Syria and have started air strikes to block the convoy:

Shia and sunny militants killing each other mercilessly, killing innocent people in the process; so disheartening to watch... why can't they just make up, forget their petty religious differences and focus together on something meaningful, like wiping Israel and the West off the world map?!

I also didn't like the deal.

They should have killed them all. They had huge pressure to figure out what happened to the 9 Lebanese soldiers though and this was likely they're only way of finding out without using torture methods.

The destruction of Beruit/Lebanon in the 70's was a crime against humanity, the city was one of the great cities of the world then, that Damascus and Syria have followed, Iraq and Afghanistan has been effectively destroyed at the same time is an immeasurable loss to humanity, these are the cities, cultures that the west was born from.

Do you mean when Israel invaded Lebanon hoping to force a peace treaty and to stop rocket attacks from Lebanon?

It is good that Hezbollah hasn't been firing firing rockets at civilians lately.

Invade, level a city and kill thousands of civilians in an attempt to "force" the other side to accept peace... Yup that's definitely the Israeli way.

Took just over a day to turn a thread about something in the middle East into an Israel thread. Might be the longest cp has ever gone.

You created the thread praising a terrorist organization (I did find your OP very interesting). Someone else decided to use that subject to sling the usual lies at Israel. A thread about Hezbollah and someone decides to step in and accuse Israel of war crimes, shameful.

But you knew all of that and still thought it would be best to insult me? The virtue signalling by some of you is laughable. AC, Q and you can't resist.

I call it when I see it, and this thread had it.

Q actually didn't start it, it was afc wimbledon who used a thread about Hezbollah (as we all know is a terrorist org) to sling mud against Israel for crimes against humanity.

It is amazing that on this site, calling someone out for their rhetorical nonsense is somehow a bad thing.

Should we simply let people lie about things? If any of us see this nonsense on any subject, they should be called out.

Jeezuz man, no one except CaptainYooh mentioned Israel in this thread until you came along to ruin the thread by going off half-cocked and completely off topic.

Had you bothered to check with him, I'm pretty sure afc was speaking about the civil war in Lebanon and not the 82-83 action taken by Israel based on the time period he mentioned!

Jahwin's Law. Almost the same as Godwin's law but no Hitler, and it only applies to CP threads about the middle east.

To add to this.

Even if you support Israel, you can still see the destruction of ancient and beautiful middle eastern cities as a tragedy. Lamenting destruction and finger pointing are two separate issues.

At no point in this thread have I mentioned Israel in any way, even indirectly, do not blame me if you so deeply associate the destruction of Lebanon with the actions of Israel that you assume a comment about Lebanon's destruction is a criticism of Israel, that's your issue not mine.

Anyways... Back on topic.

Looks as though the 310 ISIS fighters that were allowed to leave Lebanon were blocked from their final destination by US airstirkes.

Forcing them to turn around and walk across the desert patrolled by US drones sounds like a worse fate than just being shot right then and there.

Not exactly.

Quote:

The airstrikes did not target the convoy itself because about 300 relatives are also traveling with the Islamic State fighters, he added. A U.S. military statement subsequently said airstrikes targeted a number of individual vehicles and fighters that were “clearly identified as ISIS.”
Quote:
The anger erupted after photographs showing the armed Islamic State fighters traveling across Syria in air-conditioned buses — one of them marked with the words “Happy Journey” — began circulating on social media. One commentator called the deal “selfish.” Another described it as a “betrayal” of Iraq’s alliance with Hezbollah, Syria and Lebanon.
