What's he supposed to do? She's not coming back and he's moving on with his life as best as possible for his son.

what's the appropriate "mourning" time? As much as religion gets crapped on, it's situations like this where it can help someone get through tragedies whether it's looking for solace that she's in heaven or whatever but it can definitely help someone mourn.

I was surprised at first, but then I realized that I was looking at it from my perspective.

He was suddenly alone in a new country with a young son. Perhaps family / friends helped him find someone and they got along and thought they could make a family work? Pioneers were often similar. If a spouse died young, the remaining spouse married a friend to help raise the children.

Such a tragic loss of life. I cant imagine what the son and any family they may have is going through.

Its going to be a sad day as well when the human garbage that killed the wife gets a light sentence due to our laws and be out in a few years. If i had my way, the idiot that stole gas and murdered the woman should be put to death. Id have zero qualms with him seeing a firing line for his actions.

Just read that the kid was thrown 100 feet from the car and was uninjured.

I guess I was just really surprised that he had remarried already. Hopefully the boy can get the support he needs to overcome all of this.

Sentencing just happened. 11 years, less 3.5 years for time served.

Maybe it's just for manslaughter, but it doesn't make it seem right for orphaning a child.

I gather it's before the courts as to who and what country the little boy will be raised in. I hope it's with great people that will love him as their own.

Minor point but the child was not orphaned by this incident, the father was still alive until recently. The fact the child is now parent-less is tragic but should not be a determining factor in the sentencing.

He deserves life in prison just for the look on his face when he was arrested.

Yes you're right in all regards (and I knew that detail). I was just looking at it from the child's point of view. If this doesn't happen, dad doesn't drive Rogers pass to commemorate my mother's murder.

Completely illogical of course. There's nothing "fair" about life.

I believe part of this guys sentence was also a lifetime driving ban

Hopefully this boy can rise above this as he has faced more tragedy in his life than I certainly have

I guess I can live with an 11 year sentence, its not ideal, but at least this scum is going to have to live with the complete destruction of a family, and I hope he wakes up screaming every night.

The lifelong ban on driving is meaningless, I see too many stories about people who still drive with the ban in place.

Yeah, considering this whole thing came about because he was driving a stolen truck, I doubt that the driving ban will mean anything to him.
