His biggest regret being that he turned down the lead role in Pootie Tang.
A great actor, its funny though Gene Hackman retired from acting, Sean Connery, these guys just walked away. Mostly because of negative roles or movie making experiences.
Oh well, it won't be long til everything is CGI and all you'll have to do is negotiate to buy the likeness from a person and hire a dirt cheap imitation voice.

They've been doing this for Vin Diesel for years. No one has noticed.
Never really understood the purpose of celebrities announcing their retirement. If you want less public eye, just slowly fade away. If you want to stop taking acting roles, then just stop doing it. Most of these celebrities who "retire", return at some point anyways. It's not like sports where you are expected to play every season.

Doubt he thinks of himself as a "celebrity" before being an actor.
He's retiring from his profession, and he's one of the all time greats in that profession.
If he wants to make that official, I don't see how that's any different from any other professional retiring and announcing it.
The guy has been in five movies in the last 20 years. He's pretty much retired already. This is about as surprising as U2 announcing their retirement.
Haha, bad example. U2 is the epitome of sucking every last dollar out of fame. Those guys will retire the day their last fan is willing to hand over their last dollar. Henry Rollins has some great bits on U2.
