What a piece of #### that guy is. Heard he was previously charged with chaining a dog to a tree in the middle of nowhere with no food or water.

Same suspect as before has been arrested. The fact that he went straight to the Media after his 1st arrest always sat poorly with me.

It's the outcome I expected given the situation but certainly isn't the outcome I hoped for. What a heartbreak.

Knew as soon as he did that interview that he was the one, guilty people just don’t know when to shut up. Rip

So who was it?

All the article I just read mentioned it wasn't the father.

Can we maybe change the thread title to be more specific to this case?

For lack of a better term, her landlord/roommate. There was a previous relationship.

According to him they were involved sexually but not in a committed relationship...I'd take everything the sleazeball said in his interview with a grain of salt though.

It's strange they were originally looking around bragg creek and ended up quite a long way from there.

That guy definitely looked 100% guilty. But also shame on those reporters for their initial hidden camera interviews. Hopefully they didnt muck up a fair trial.

Was it really that hidden? He seemed pretty public about it.

Yeah the hidden part doesn't matter. I should not have mentioned that. But definitely one of the interviews I saw was "off the record" but with a cell phone camera running from an odd angle. Either way these interviews can mess up a prosecution case.

Do you have any examples of that ever happening? I always thought police would love it when one of these guys blabs to the media and slips up.

No. The piece of crap did give a full on camera interview with Global. Which I've never really seen before, the prime suspect just released from jail giving a full on interview in front of his house.

There are lots but the general concept is "trial by media". You don't want the media to effect how the public and by proxy a jury or defense lawyer might view a defendant. In this example most people who saw those initial interviews will believe he's a lying, guilty, scum bag. That's no good for his chance for an impartial trial and our desire for justice to be served. I'm not a lawyer by any stretch and so I might be wrong. Our in house legal counsel could speak to it much better than me. But when I saw those videos of him I was like man, that's not good.

IDK, seems like those interviews could make a defense more challenging, but I can't see them doing anything but helping the prosecution.

Also not a lawyer, so who knows.

I think the videos will probably just not be allowed as any kind of evidence and hopefully the jury selection (if it's a jury trial) is tight so there's no mistrial because someone watched these interviews and had a preconceived notion of his guilt.
