@JeffPassan:
BREAKING: Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. violated Major League Baseball’s performance-enhancing drug policy and is facing a suspension, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.
Fernando Tatis Jr. will be suspended for 80 games, MLB announced. The suspension will cover the remainder of this season and will render him ineligible for the postseason. It will continue into the beginning of next year. On the verge of returning, he's done for the year.

Do they have PED clauses in these monster contracts?

This is actually a pretty big deal. The most marketable star the MLB has to offer is now a cheater. I'm speechless. I have some dope baseball cards of his that have likely now plummeted in value. Bummer lol.

I find it a little humorous that the Padres get f'ed when they were anticipating probably facing the Yankees in a final. Trouble always comes in threes - wondering what else falls next.

Lmao. No way that idiot is talking about someone growing up
@JoeTrezz:
Padres RHP Mike Clevinger on Fernando Tatis Jr.'s suspension: "This is the second time we've been disappointed with him. You hope he grows up and learns from this and learns that it’s about more than just him right now.” #Padres #MLB

Why would Tatis be taking anything with a steroid for ringworm? Why not a prescription anti-fungal? Ringworm (for example athlete’s foot) is super common and the team should have treatment available for it or any doctor would have prescribed a standard anti-fungal treatment.

Probably because it’s just a cover up.

Forget Tatis, forget Soto — where do I get a Wynton Bernard jersey?

I'm at the point that I assume any star baseball player is taking something to get them ahead. The Bradley Zimmer's of the MLB never had a chance.

I'm not shocked at all.
I'd rather play above average through most of the season and then get hot right before the playoffs than go on a big heater the first half of the season like they did.
Getting to play a ton of games against Baltimore when they were horrible helped too.

Rangers fire Chris Woodward, and then fire Jon Daniels.
As a Rangers fan I think Woodward's time was done. He seemed like a good manager and well liked but how do you go 6 and 2,567,821 in one run games and keep your job? The Rangers would be a game back of the playoffs if they were .500 in one run games.
Jon Daniels I always felt like he needed a check and balance. He was Paul McCartney to Nolan Ryan's John Lennon. Daniels is good on his own, maybe great even, but he needed the pushback of Ryan to put together back to back World Series' appearances. Ryan was a shift in organizational attitude and Daniels brought in the players themselves.
Without Ryan, Daniels seemed cold to the players and players didn't seem to have the attachment to the organization.

Votto out for the season with rotator cuff surgery. That's a bummer. I freaking love that dude. I think he's a bonafide Hall of Famer. But who knows what the BBWA thinks when all is said and done. I don't think Votto has ever hinted at retirement up until this point and is still under contract for next season with a team option the following year. So hopefully we get to enjoy him awhile longer. And maybe put up some more of those precious counting stats the Hall loves.

The Yankees were on a 120 win pace not long ago, now they might be 50/50 to even get to 90. They certainly appeared to be frauds at that 120 pace, winning so many close games and relying on unsustainable pitching, but they are legit one of the worst teams in the league right now. Fairly shocking, although awesome and hilarious, collapse. Boone going from manager of the year to fired in two months might just happen lol.
