I know you aren't in Calgary, but this is a good deal if you want to go to a shop:
https://calaltaautoglass.ca/index.ph..._chip_repairs/
$30 for 2 repairs.
DoubleF, I'm a bit skeptical about nail polish, because when you use the kit you seal the glass and force epoxy in under pressure. That way it glues the jagged cracks so they don't spread.

And it must have been a small guy. It's pretty low, i can barely get under there.
So next steps? see if it can be replaced? file a police report?

Now that I have a commuter car and my truck spends most of the time in the alley, I'm worried about this as well.
I'd put a bear trap under there if I could think of a way to keep animals away from it

I do this as well with the kits. We have one of the aforementioned broncos and the vertical windshield is awful for chips. I've done 6 so far in 8 months.

I'm thinking when I get it back, I'll have to park the passenger side against a fence, or against some really heavy wooden planters boxes. And maybe leave the porch backdoor light on.
It's a one minute job for these guys. They just need a long cordless saw, cut, cut, and they have it. But they need the space to do it. If it looks like a lot of work, they won't bother.

Theives are such fata faces. That's not something you should have to worry about. What a downer.
There's a bike I really want, but it's such a hassle trying to protect it from thieves where I want to park it that it's just not worth buying.

Completely agreed that epoxy repairs is likely better. But if somehow someone cannot be damned to figure it out or bring it to someone, nail polish is far easier and better than doing nothing at all.

Is there a trick to get the key out of the ignition in a RAV4 or is it just stuck?

Make sure it is in park. Rock the steering wheel back and forth.

I did that. I don’t want to break anything so I’m just going to take it back.

I heard some cars can be a little weird and you have to push the key inwards to continue turning the key to remove it if it hasn't fully turned to be able to be removed.
If it's not that, yeah. Ask for a replacement and/or a vehicle with push start.

Does it turn over and start? Could be a low battery, especially if it is in a rental that has sat for a long period of time.

Turns out that's what it was. I really had to push it in hard.
I can see why push start has become the norm; it's idiots like me.

I think I called my dad the first time I couldn't turn the key when I first got my license..
"Have you tried turning the steering wheel a bit?"
Might have been the only time I hung up on someone in shame lol.

I still had the car in neutral and tried to pull the key out.

Remind me again why Catalitic converters are all the rage with junkies rn?
Do they purify the meth when you use the Catty as a Bong?

The metals inside of them are worth a lot of money and scrap dealers are willing to deal with shady characters in order to make a $

I don’t think many meth heads are stealing cats. You need a good cordless recip, lots of blades and transport at a minimum. I’ve never seen a math head who could hang on to anything of value.
These are a holes who could actually be productive but are taking the easy road. It’s easy money and really hard to trace.
I had a guy come buy cats off me and it took him no time at all to cut about 8 from various scrap cars in my yard. I asked him where he was selling them and he said him and his brother actually break them right down and just sell the internal material. Very lucrative but a dirty job.

I'm saying this as a joke but...
Have you hung out with many Oil Riggers?
