He refused to pay him after the guy agreed to cook full time for Schiefele AND Wheeler and had resigned from his drafting job for the City of Winnipeg. This makes him an even bigger jerk than just not paying him.
Besides, doesn't he famously not swear? How could you trust any hockey player that didn't swear? That'd be like playing hockey with an NPC video game hockey player.

Part of the reason I wanted the Flames to acquire Stastny for a long time is so he wouldn't be able to play against the Flames anymore. What a pain in the ass he can be out there.

I was thinking the same.
If multiple players who grew up as NHL players on the same team have severe entitlement issues, maybe it's not a coincidence but a product of their organizational culture.

The whispers about Scheifele over the past few seasons seem to be true. Sounds like he's not a great guy or teammate. Good on Stastny for letting fans know the problem is in the locker room.

When a player like this potentially becomes available you can't just dismiss it outright IMO. You need to ask yourself if a change of scenery or coaching might cause the player to straighten out and have a resurgence.

I will say this - Schiefile has some of the best PR in the league with the top reporters. They talk about him being on Canada Olympic team, etc. He's a one way player without the offense to make up for it.

Stastny is a UFA this off season. If we need to make changes to accommodate signing Johnny and Tkachuk then maybe we can get Stastny on a team friendly contract to round out the bottom 6? Seems like a good leader who appreciates doing things the right way, the Sutter way, and could be a good addition. No idea how that would look or work but if Tre were to call him up in the off-season I wouldn't question it.

I'd take Statsny any day on a cap-friendly deal.
Scheifele, put me firmly in the group that just doesn't trust a hockey player that doesn't swear. Sorry if that's exclusionary. But like, what do you scream walking down the tunnel throwing your stick? Cripes?
