I don't know how many people have been watching the UTS (Ultimate Tennis Showdown) matches, but Thiem is just crushing the ball. I was leaning towards Medvedev as the first young (or younger) guy to win a Slam, but I've changed my mind and now think Thiem will be the first to break the stranglehold of the Big Three.
Also, Happy Canada Day!

I think Them is such a great player, and he is a threat at every major except Wimbledon. I can totally see him winning multiple grand slams in the next few years. Hes the 2nd best clay court player and has gone deep at Australia and the US Open. He's my pick for the US Open this year but I do question if he has what it takes to take down Nadal at the French.

Thiem at his best could prevail if Rafa was having an off day at the FO. You can count on one hand the number of players this is true for. everyone else, Rafa beats even if he eats some bad tartare the day before and spends every commercial break on the toilet.
TSN is showing 7 Nadal matches during their Wimbledon rewind......6 of them loses
That match Nadal could have won but it came after years of 1st and 2nd round loses so I was just happy he showed that he could go deep at Wimbledon again. But I feel like if they played the entire match outdoors and on the same day he would have had a better chance. I will never understand why they kept the roof closed the 2nd day when it was a beautiful day.
Totally agree about Thiem, I predict when he retires we will say he was the 2nd best clay court player of this time ahead of Fed,Novak and Stan. I could be way off base and he may never win the French but he certainly has the potential and has already beaten Novak twice at the French.
Hard to quibble with that list NF, maybe Arthur Ashe in place of Courier. Going way back (even back before my time lol), Don Budge won all four tourneys that comprise the modern day Grand Slam.

It was hard to make the list because I've only seen Sampras and Agassi play and they were both older and not in their primes. I put Sampras one because of his 14 GS and Connors 2nd based on his over 100 titles. Agassi over McEnroe was tough but I went with Agassi because he won all 4 Grand Slams and a Gold Medal. Ashe could totally be ahead of Courier, in terms of cultural impact he certainly is. Roddick could have been on this list if he didn't play in the era he did, he had a wonderful grass court game and his 2009 Wimbledon effort was epic.
I think Greek Yogurt is an okay dude and he's a fantastic tennis player, but his dad presents the image that his poop doesn't stink. It doesn't help that they're good friends with Patrick Patrick Mouratoglou and his academy as he's another guy who thinks pretty highly of himself.
12 years ago today the greatest tennis match ever took place. It was 2008, Federer had won the last 5 Wimbledon titles (including the last 2 against Nadal) looking to become the first man to win 6 in a row. Nadal was known as a clay court specialist who hadn’t won a Grand Slam off clay yet. Earlier that year Nadal absolutely thrashed Federer at the French Open in a way that had never been done before with Nadal winning 6-1,6-3,6-0. After going up 2 sets to 0 the match looked like a cake walk for Nadal but that's when Federer woke up and said to the world I’m still the King of Grass and I won’t go down without a fight and he went on to win the 3rd set. The fourth set needed a tie breaker and Nadal got a match point which Fed saved on his serve. Then tied in the breaker, Nadal hit one of the greatest passing shots ever to give him match point on his serve. Nadal dropped down to one knee as if to say yes I’ve climbed the highest mountain I’m now the king. Well if Nadal’s passing shot was the greatest in tennis history it certainly didn’t have the crown for long as the very next point (on match point down), Federer hits an equally if not better passing shot to keep the match going. Fed would win the 4th set and then we would get a rain delay. Toni Nadal went into the locker room expecting Rafa to be down and heartbroken but when he came into the locker room Nadal was upbeat and said he wasn't going to lose. Federer could win the match, but Nadal wasn’t going to lose it. In the 5th set with Nadal leading 8-7 and serving for the match, he would get a 3rd match point and again Federer would brush it aside. On his 4th match point with the lights out in the 5th set Nadal makes history and does the impossible beating Federer at Wimbledon in the finals.

One of the cool things about Tennis is when we see players from different generations collide. A player like Agassi has played Connors, McEnroe, Sampras but also Nadal and Federer
