I hope you bought calls when the stock was still $420.69.

Musk has done some strange things as CEO of Tesla, but I think we're beyond all that now, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't move on as CEO to focus on SpaceX going into the future.

Tesla is run well, makes lots of money and has lots of orders for their cars. They have massive expansion planned and are creating lots of jobs throughout North America, including in Canada. Great for everyone.

I hope all the other new startups do as well going into the future. Seems to be a revitalization of the car industry which is great.

You say this like he's stopped doing strange things. Personally I feel like he damages the brand as long as he's still there.

Are we well beyond this week when he had a twitter poll on if he should sell a boat load of shares or not? Because that's a strange thing for a CEO to do...

I didn't see it as that strange since he had options come up where he needed to sell anyways. I thought it was a good move that he engaged the public on it considering the focus on how billionaires pay taxes.

But I can see how it looks bad. Have his strange takes affected the stock price? Doesn't seem like it. I agree that perhaps as Tesla matures they might need to go a different route for CEO, but I certainly wouldn't call him a lunatic.

I don't think he is a lunatic, but he absolutely acts in ways that can be questionable. I've never seen a CEO of a company that large user Twitter publicly in the way he does, and there is a reason the SEC has sued him for it.

That's a fair point, but I think given how the media is prone to misrepresenting almost everything these days I think more high level people will start going direct to their customers via Twitter & other platforms.

That's fine, but you still have to do it within the bounds of the regulations that bind you. Flipping the virtual bird to them isn't really a great strategy, I'm sure the board cringes every time he does it.

Yes, there will be a time, when he needs to move on for the best of the brand.

Stock price is probably inflated.

Tesla can basically fund their CAPEX without tapping into debt markets.

I don't think the board cares right now.

Elon Musk sold quite a bit of stock but still owns the majority or a lot and has options to buy more.

Default Electric vehicle war, is gas soon to be toast?

How is Musk allowed to tweet stuff that inevitably leads to drops in the stock price. Isn’t this manipulation? What’s stopping him from saying crap, buying more stock, and then walking back his comments? His actions seem pretty blatant.

Free country, and as long as his board doesn't see it as a problem he can say what he wants provided it isn't outright manipulation along the lines of "going private at $420."

The SEC would have a very hard time proving stock manipulation. CEOs say stuff all the time.

"Our guidance for this quarter is not good due to supply chain issues."

Stock price drops, CEO buys up stock, company has a better quarter than expected, stock prices goes up. Is that manipulation? Tough to say. Did the CEO know they would do better?

I haven't experienced any issues yet. I have winter tires installed too though.

Most CEOs aren't literally talking about buying and selling their shares on Twitter nor do they have a history of it. Musk has crossed the line several times with the SEC, they probably have him pinned to their favourite contacts these days.

Kind of timely for this suit to be brought forward.

I rented a Tesla Model 3 recently so I'll share my experience:

Pros:
- I found the credit card key to be very handy to use
- super fun car to drive
- very nice not having to worry about gas prices
- the side cameras were really cool
- tons of acceleration and overall a quiet ride
- I didnt use the app as it was just a rental but it looks easy to use

Cons:
- I don't live anywhere near a supercharge station so it would be inconvenient to use one
- it was weird to not have to use the brake and it took a while to get used to. With a Tesla you just take your foot off the gas and it slows down
- I plugged in the car overnight (regular household garage plugin) and it only gave me 20%, so I'd need to figure that out
- I just rented mine but if I were to buy I would be paying a big premium for it, even with the federal rebate

I get they clearly dislike Tesla but $90 is just goofy, so low it makes them seem worse than the stock they're trying to discredit
