Smith stepped up massive when it mattered and where few others did, and I'll remember his performance for a long time honestly. Heart, pride, determination, he had it all. If this is his swan song on our team, which I'd assume it is, thank you Smitty for a mostly good tenure. A shame we couldn't get further despite his immense effort this playoff. That was the first extremely high quality playoff goaltending performance we've had since prime Kipper.

Thanks Smith for some of the best Flames playoff goaltending ever. Sorry I wanted you to retire mid season and thought you would be the reason the Flames went out in the first round. I was wrong.

I feel like regular Flames turned into Bizarro Flames in the playoffs. I'm still very confused about what happened.

I think that those that are saying they want him back for one more year may want to wait 48 to 72 more hours and think their statement over.

Smith played well this playoffs, but it is time for the flames to move on.

Smith would like one last chance to win the Cup.
Why would he choose Calgary?

He'll get another contact. Will he want it to be in Calgary?

How ironic that the skaters didn't perform well in front of him when he finally played awesome behind them.

I have no doubt Smith would be willing to come back. We were a top team that choked in the playoffs, we'll again be a favourite to make the playoffs next season, and there's likely no other team that would even consider signing him as a potential starter at this point. Just because we choked this season says nothing about whether or not we'll choke next season.

So much depends on who is available in the summer.

I have come around on Smith as the season has progressed. He did go on to God mode in the playoffs. Thank you Mike Smith!

And why would any team that has a chance for the cup think that Smith was the guy that they needed.

Smith had a great finish to a troubled season. But its true the Flames play different in front of him than they did Rittich and I'm not sure it was for the better. I think they should move on and force themselves to not lean on him and that style of play as much as they seemed to.
