Yah, that was my exact situation last election. I certainly did not like Kenney, but our UCP rep was a young female and I figured she might be able to provide a different perspective to the rest of the party and I did not love our NDP incumbent. Turns out she’s an idiot and it wouldn’t matter if we had the most amazing UCP candidate in our riding this time around there is no way I’m voting for this tire fire of a government.

No more than when Notley did it a few years prior (15 mil at the time as well). Look at the size of these fires its unprecedented. So yeah, all these decisions played a factor and the current government got caught holding the hot potato. But with the many many things you can lay directly on the feet of the UCP for being directly responsible for screwing up this aint it. Theres blood on Notleys hands too. And its kinda pathetic seeing how many people try to turn this into an political thing due to it occuring during election times. Cant even get updates on twitter because its swamped with people bantering back and forth with their pro-UCP and pro-NDP BS. Blows me away how much people of todays entire identity and day to day revovles around rallying to their political parties drum lines. You'd think with all the people being evacuated people could put that one in the back pocket for a bit.

It's crazy, because Kenney's record is nothing off not extreme, basically spring on popular opinion with every decision. But conservative voters seem to believe he's more moderate in retrospect.
A lot of times what people believe seems to matter more than what history reveals to be true.
It's like the myth that the UPC will be the more fiscally responsible party, when all evidence points the other way.

Danielle Smith is a lightweight, libertarian, 'free-thinker' who is prone to believing and saying anything that comes into (or is put into) her head. I knew that.
What I realize now is that she is just a convenient figurehead for Alberta nationalists/separatists. The Free Alberta Strategy is as close to a separation manifesto as you're going to see publicly, including creating a provincial police force so they can ignore federal laws, a provincial revenue agency so they can withhold federal taxes, and of course the sovereignty act. Co-author of the strategy? Rob Anderson, the executive director of Smith's office. The guy who appears in many videos with her talking about taking over enforcement from the Feds. The 'Rob' that she frequently says she needs to check with e.g. in the Pawlowsky video.
She's the perfect puppet.

You know that thing they say about house cats and Libertarians? That genuinely is Smith, she has proven that beyond any shadow of a doubt.

Haha, that's great:

She should have that tattoo'd on her other arm.

This one is for Dion, Smith saying the same stuff as 20 years ago:
Quote:
Smith has long advocated for gutting and privatizing public health care.
In a 2003 Calgary Herald column titled “Denied access to private health violates basic human rights,” Smith complained that “politicians simply don’t have the stomach to reform public health care so it will actually work, such as adopting internal markets, allowing private health- care providers to proliferate, charging user fees and implementing co-payment systems.”
“If it’s necessary to use the courts to push for a parallel private system so Canadians can get the medical care they need, so be it. Let the litigation begin.”

Not just great but absolutely true. We can never forget that she thought she had "pardon powers" like a state governor. She has previously been a sitting member of the provincial legislature, this isn't her first time in government and she didn't know.
Danielle Smith is a house cat.

She would be the first to tell you it was just musings and thoughts at the time and her opinion has changed. She 'talked to people'.
And conveniently during an election.
She's not lying.
Maybe.

(And this is coming from someone who leans right and generally has voted conservative in the past).

Imagine what she's going to say and feel like she has license to say if she wins and the muzzle comes off.
The fact this woman will not win an election by being herself and needing basically zoo keepers 24/7 just to get through the next month tells you all you need to know.

I remember my father in law once saying...the more you talk, the easier it is for people to figure out how smart you really are not. It's like he was talking about Danielle Smith.

Yup, and there are no secrets. She's got hours and hours of radio content.
