That's a nice deal. Especially considering the difficulty they've had previously.

I predict that Bratt is going to be well worth that contract by the end of it.

Good signing for New Jersey.

Bratt has 73 points in each of the last two seasons, and would be worth the $7.8M right now. If his play improves at all and as the cap goes up this could end up being a bargain.

During regular season probably. The guy was a total no show in the playoffs though, struggles mightily against physical play.

This is common for young players with little playoff experience.

See.. now that's a fair deal for both sides.

It pays him well until the age of 33, where his play will likely stay the course, and won't hurt the team on the back half.

We need to see more deals like this.

Went to CapFriendly to check it out, and noticed the Flames re-signed Clark Bishop for 2 years. $275,000 minors salary so nice raise for him.

I don't think it's that. He is a 5'10"", 175 lbs player who not only struggles with physicality but avoids it. His game is built on open ice play that doesn't exist in the playoffs.

Thats ok though. The game is slowly changing to suit these types of players.

This is how it's done. None of this bridge nonsense.

Killer 6th round pick for the Devils. I would love to know who on the Devil's staff was responsible for identifying him.

Or he had terrible shooting percentage in a small sample size.

He was 66% xGF at 5v5 in the playoffs (11.5 GF / 6 GA) and instead was on the ice for 4 GF and 6 GA. 57 High Danger Chances For and 27 high danger chances against.

I personally wouldn't be reading too much into the 4.35% on ice shooting percentage he had in the playoffs.

And it's not like 6 points in 12 games was horrendous either.

Tkachuk's first POs were pretty low scoring. seems OK now.

Judging a player on playoff performance when they are still wet behind the ears isn't fair IMO. See how his stats look when he is 30

I though he was straight up horrible in the Carolina series and they aren't even that physical compared to say Vegas for example. But players get paid based on regular season so this is in line with that. I'm just puzzled NJ keeps building small around their already small core guys when a big and heavy team again won the Cup.
