2018 Calgary Stampede

Didn't see a Stampede thread yet, figured I'd get one going with the Coke Stage line-up being announced (and it's really good).

Headliners are Alexisonfire, Billy Talent, Elle King, and Phantogram.

Smaller acts include Rural Alberta Advantage and The Dirty Nil (these guys are fantastic)

So wait with them dividing the bands into 2 groups (headliners, openers) does that mean they're slicing the coke stage right down to 4 days?

I know they've had a tough few years and have been looking to save everywhere they can, but that would be a pretty big step back.

I think they are just slowly announcing the events?

I would be shocked if they only have music on the 5th, 6th, 9th, and 15th which are the only days announced so far.

I hope, but if you go to concert/festival pages they're usually very clear and excited to announce that this isn't everyone. The coke stage page paints it as if this is the full line-up.

However, there is a classic stampede party I always attend on Tuesday afternoon. Usually I am not in the best state after that so I will have to see!

As someone that has lived in Calgary most of my life, I was wondering what the actual economic benefit is to the city. Obviously tourism shoots up, and a ton of money is poured into the economy, but have never really seen how those dollars impact the city (positively or negatively)

The Calgary Stampede says visitors to Stampede Park alone spend roughly $345 million within Alberta.
