BREAKING: Senior Tory confides: "We have a @HillaryClinton-@realDonaldTrump situation. @fordnation has won 'electoral college' with more riding points, but @celliottability has 3,000 more voters." Hearing we may be headed to court. #onpoli #PCPOLdr
If they didn't want this to happen they shouldn't have given all ridings equal weight. This is working as intended.
Ugh.... I was planning on voting PC in this election and would have if either Elliot or Mulroney won. Now I have 3 incredibly unappetizing options in front of me.
I really can’t vote for Doug Ford.

This is why a general election will never be done online!
I blame IT!
I know you're having fun here, but I think the biggest thing holding back online elections/voting is that online participation reduces the need for elected representatives (who needs someone to represent them if they can just represent themselves?). I think the primary thing that's held back the legalization of pot is that there are so many public sector jobs built around it being illegal, that don't get replaced by anything when it becomes legal. The people in charge are always going to be extremely hesitant to cut their own job base.
Most people are happy to do banking online, and most people consider their money a hell of a lot more important than their vote.

Direct democracy combined with low information voters would be a disaster. I don't think it's a resistance to change to protect jobs in the case of online voting. It's a matter of risk vs convenience. If I only had to conduct banking transactions every 4 years I wouldn't be too bothered having to wait online for an hour to do it. There is value in having an auditable paper trail that can be physically touched that follows a chain of custody.

It'd probably take 100 years of cultural evolution to get such a system fully implemented, but you've got to admit an educated and engaged voting population that's able to directly express their political views is better than a system that was created back when you needed a guy and a horse to mail a letter.

Vote Doug Ford!
Don't be an ass. (Ford is betting more people are annoyed with arrogant elitists then there are arrogant elitists.)
in 2016 (last year for data) there were approximately 9 million people in the workforce in Ontario (sure there are 12 million people living here, but that includes a whole lot of kids and retirees.) Of that 8 million approximately 1,8 million earn a paycheque from a level of government (federal, provincial, regional, municipal). Stats Can public sector numbers do not include - police, firefighters, paramedics, nurses, doctors, teachers, principals, support workers, military personnel. All get their paycheque from government and all are under separate categories. My numbers are from Stats Can and ON Government.
Not that far off.
73.6% of all statistics are made up.
lies, lies, damned lies, and statistics.
Ontario Provencal politics - the ultimate no win/Wynne scenario for voters.
