Weird that it's as POHO and not GM.

He left behind a contender and is now in charge of an org that has had its run and is about to experience massive amounts of pain for the next handful of years, more than likely.

Brilliant mind

Crosby is post apex. Move him. Send him up here to ride out his twilight years like Joe Pavelski in Dallas

Kyle likely signed on for the money and the power here. Crosby isn’t leading them to anything with that roster. The tradable players are supposedly staying pens for life (Crosby, Malkin, Letang), so what can they work with here? He gets a fat paycheque and more power so good luck to him but he’s not making a difference there.

Curious if he steals Brandon Pridham to be the GM

I think Friedman last week said POHO is GM.

It's the better position seeing the GM may not survive into a rebuild. So much for all that hard on family talk seeing they are going from Toronto to uprooted to Pittsburgh in a matter of a few weeks. It really looks like the Leafs called his bluff. Regardless I think it's a pretty good hire for the Penguins considering the old retread route failed massively with Burke and Hextall.

He was taken down by Emperor Shanahan, now he is his own master. Its the better move.

Dubas getting a job without the hand of Shanahan = win for him. Good for him, I thought he was always the one Leafs fans would use to blame for their lack of success. In reality, he was the one that I felt did a good job trying to assemble the support group outside of the core 4, and did a decent job at it. The results weren't what he wanted, but as a GM you can't fault him for trying. Maybe spent a little too many 1sts, but what contending tema isn't going to do that?

So Treliving leaves and Dubas gets fired because they both want more control. Treliving goes into the cauldron reporting to Shanahan and the 3-headed dragon where it's cup or bust. Dubas gets a big promotion into a probably rebuilding market, although Fenway does have money. I think we know who came out much better.

It’s going to be interesting to track the success or failure of Conroy, Tre and Dubas over the next few years. Each has unique challenges and Dubas is in a little different albeit more powerful role. My money is on Dubas to come out on top and Tre on the bottom. I don’t mean that as a slight on Tre…I just think he’s in a no-win situation in TO between Shanahan being emperor and the cap/contract for core players jam they’re in. Short term TO will do the best. But beyond two years out Conroy and Dubas will look like better hires I bet.

I'd be surprised but not shocked if Sid decided he wanted to win one more Cup and leads his team to the Finals next year.

How though? Pittsburgh is in a terrible situation where their best assets are set there for life, and the young guys aren’t many. Then they’ve dealt many picks in the Rutherford era. So what can they work with here? It’s gotta be the draft over the long haul. Good luck with that not having tradable assets and needing draft luck.

I think Treliving having a second voice in Shanahan, comes out one, Conroy two, Dubas distant third.

Pens are in a bad situation now but Dubas will likely get to build his own team soon.

Brad has a better team but it's basically locked in and capped out with expectations to win a cup. Matthews contract in one year could make it really tough to do anything.
