Its a country that with the current political waters is going to run by a minority of the people. The current Democratic party will be hard pressed to control the senate. They either need to go less progressive to try to win states like Texas, Pennsylvannia, Ohio or if they risk being shut out of control over congress despite having a majority of voters (best a state with 1% of the population of California has the same number of senators as California)

Exactly - this is infuriating. If the Democrats don't start taking actions necessary against the GOP to prevent this bs - they will be back in power in no time. I'm unfortunately pretty convinced they will lose the House and the Senate in November and then it's a GOP free for all.

Sinema and Manchin are the reasons the court wasn't expanded.

Right. They’re mostly old, rich people who are fine with the status quo. Say what you will about AOC but if they elected more people like her they could do something. Unfortunately she is an outlier who got in through grassroots fundraising and the big money that really determines who gets elected like things as they are.

Voters knew this was on the line in 2016 and didn't vote for Hillary. Bernie bros!

Overturning Roe is unfortunate but what's most bizarre to me is the jurisdictions that want to ban birth control and contraceptives in any capacity.

My story is one that some already know, but for the sake of those who might not, and in light of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v Wade, it is best summarized by these three sentences: I was raped when I was 17 years old. I was forced to give birth to a baby when I was 18 years old. My baby died when I was 19 years old.

You don't want to go back to the 1910s? The good ole days?

It’s a waste of breath to say anything about Republicans at this point. You don’t blame the lion when if mauls someone because the zookeeper let it out if its cage.

A great day for human rights! Abortion is a grave injustice. America has moved one step closer to protecting the most fundamental of human rights--the right to life!

By the way - if you really want someone to blame for this - its Ruth Bader Ginsberg. If she had retired in Obama's 1st term when she was like 79 years old instead of sticking around - you'd avoid this super majority and likely Roberts switches sides to stick with the status quo.

This is what happens when people with strong religious convictions get in positions of power. It's why it is vitally important to keep them on the sidelines. We need to be aware of this threat.

Well that's the problem. The Republicans are seen as some kind of unstoppable horror movie villain instead of an actual political party. So people just brush all that off and then decide their vote on other issues like 'wokiness' or covid restrictions.

Democracy is so busted... why is this not just a referendum? Cause it'd overwhelmingly go in favour of abortion? A bunch of old people whose reproductive organs don't work anymore get to make decisions that have catastrophic consequences for millions. It's nuts.
