I didn't think they'd ever top the scene where Jamie teaches Roy how to ride a bike, but Uncle Day might have just done it. Also in case you missed it, the Canadian TV commentators for the CAN/MEX match were played by Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie
I'd pay real money for that.

Big episode for the supporting characters. Roy stuff was great from uncle day to the shirt and finally his note. Funny stuff with that Canada Mexico game too. Also really enjoyed Rebecca’s character growth coming to a head although her moment was super sappy.
Not sure about Nate’s story and the stuff with Sam felt like an unnecessarily call back. Didn’t care about Keeley’s business at all. Definitely feels like the writers needing something for her to do until Roy got it together.
I really miss the old fast paced 30 minute episodes. Too much going on here and wish episode 10 was more streamlined with a focus on Roy and Rebecca only.

I don't understand the issues people are having with Keely's stuff. She's my favourite female character on the entire show, and I say "more Kelly stories please!"
I like Rebecca too, but she already seems miles ahead of Keely in terms of character development and having everything together, being a grown up, etc etc. She's a great looking woman and a millionare Premier League football club owner. She doesn't really seem to have any issues that aren't related to men. Keely is a far more interesting mess of a character that I wish they'd explore even more.
Sassy's great too. More of her would also be pretty good, although not really for story or anything like that. I just think her character is fun and entertaining to have around in the background (I mean in the background of a TV show, not in a real setting... in a real setting, she's be a foreground character and a blast to hang out with (if that makes any sense)) .
Spoiler!
Was a fun episode, Uncle Day was easily the best part. The Rebecca stuff was a bit nutso (her and Rupert suddenly getting along was a bit creepy), and that dude that keeps messing with Sam can take off.
Also am I the only one doesn't remember Nate quitting? Like, I know he left Rupert at the pub and went home. I suspect it's just meant to be an "off camera" thing that happened, but they way I don't see anyone else mentioning it makes me wonder if I missed a scene somewhere.
You can tell someone's age by if they call "Red Right Hand" that song from "Scream" or the theme to "Peaky Blinders".
All we learned about Nate leaving was he quit, there were rumours of inappropriate behaviour, and Rupert had a new assistant. Wonder if this will be left up to our imagination or if we get a flashback next episode.

My god, just greenlight a Roy and Jamie spinoff already.
You could have them take a gig in another country to avoid too much crossover with the Ted characters. Maybe the national team (Euros or WC). Kent brought on to be an assistant coach, Jamie to play for the team. And the pupil continues his training.
Have a Lasso cameo during the tourney to throw the OG fans a bone.
I thought for a moment we were actually coming full circle with Rebecca making amends with Rupert, and even rekindling their romance. I've never been so glad that a show didn't go there.
Have to love the very intentional moment with the Russian owner. You keep pushing, you have to pull!
It was also was nice to see the show tackling toxic parenting along with everything else it has touched on. Parents that are unnecessarily tough on their kids and expect them to be exceptional at their activities, or behave like adults at ages when it's not appropriate, or even shaming their kids for taking their privilege "for granted" because they just want to be a kid, was pretty real and relatable. I like that they didn't vilify his dad for it, but showed that at the end of the day parents are just kids raising kids, and they make mistakes too. But they are capable of owning up to that with some growth and perspective.

I thought it was just that he realized Rupert was a dirt-bag who was forcing him to a fork in the road, personally. He chose his path that night, and did what needed to be done after.

Yeah I thought it as pretty obvious as well.

I'll admit I was a bit doubtful about how they started the season, but they're in top form right now. That Red Right Hand scene was perfect.
I agree with FireGilbert, I think there's going to be a flashback or explanation to what happened between Nate and Rupert, because Rupert definitely felt different here. I'd guess that Nate said or did something that caused some introspection on Rupert's part. One of the pain themes of the show is not only the effect Ted's positivity and goodness has on the people around him, but then the effect those people can have on the people around them. I think they're kinda setting out that Ted doesn't need to be there any more... everyone now knows how to look out for and support each other (like Total Football, of course). The goodness has become kinda self-sustaining.
I wonder if there is any purposeful subtext here that the British are bitter and mean, and just needed a friendly American to show them thew way. American Saviour Syndrome.
