I can't believe I haven't been back to China in almost 3 years. My wife and I are looking to transition back to being in China 6 months/year and I'm sure that even after just three years I'm going to feel like I'm coming out of the stone age when I go back. I miss innovations like this so much.

Sorry, I know this isn't the place, but why?
Why would you want to move to China.
To me it isn't the type of placer or Government I would want to support.

It's fun, and I love Chinese culture and society. Most people here won't get that, but I know from having split life between China and Canada that the understanding people here in Canada generally have of life in China is wildly divorced from reality. It actually has many, many positives and a lot that I respect.
Also, Asia is where exciting things are happening. It's where most of the world lives, where most progress is taking place, where the pace of life is at a speed I enjoy, and it's incredibly diverse. We might end up trying to be based in HK, which also puts India, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam etc. all within reasonable distance for trips.

It holds no appeal for me, but if it is good for you and yours then enjoy.

Random fact... another cool thing about the Yupik is that I believe that they are the only indigenous people in North America that also have communities in Asia. Many people are under the impression that North America was completely isolated from the rest of the world prior to European discovery, but it isn't the case. Contact between the North American and Asia sides was not easy, but they were aware of each other's existence and did occasionally send traders through.

This reminds me of every birthday party my son goes to. Kids go play, all the moms are there, and there's a core of 4 of us dads that show up, chat sports, bond, and 2 hours later say "well see you at the next birthday party"
Ironically we all live within walking distance of each other but... birthday partys only, with the odd school function thrown in for good measure.
