Which recent first round pick is up next for Yamamoto’s career ruiner spot?

Excellent question.
They’ll try & push as short of a bridge deal as possible which again, only shoot’s themselves in the foot, again.
Signing him long term, as much as it would hurt, would maximize cap increases to resign the Overplayed Defensively Bankrupt Studs in 2 & 3 seasons.
Either way they’re paying the price for terrible prospect development that fails to provide any amount of value contracts in the bottom 6 to offset the salaries of their top 6.

Last season, they lost to the Avs, the eventual Cup winner in the Conference Final. And this year, they lost to the Knights second round, the eventual Cup winner. Sooo....next season they face the Flames in the first round and again, will lose to the eventual Cup winner?

The Islanders lost to Tampa in the Conference Finals in 2020 and 2021. Then they missed the playoffs in 2022 and lost in the first round in 2023.

Hmmm...wonder how much will Bouchard willing to sign for a bridge deal. Will he be willing to sign for, say, $5M per for 3 years? If he signs for that, it'll only leave them $3,636,666 to sign 7 players?

Klim Kostin and Ryan Mcleod probably get a bit of a bump too.

They both have arb rights. They definitely get a million and a half minimum.

Klim Kostin getting paid $750,000 this season, next season may be double that? So, $1,500,000?
Ryan McLeod getting paid $798,000, and next season may be double? $1,596,000?
$1500000 + $1596000 = $3096000
This leaves them $540,666 to sign 5 players?

They might have to let them walk and sign somebody with league minimum.

It's the Oilers. They'll just try to trade Ekholm for a pick to clear salary cap, then halfway through the season realize they have zero actual d-men and trade for one at the deadline

If he gets $8 million I will parade in the streets. I would imagine he's going to get in the range of $5.5-6 million.

Which means they are going to have to buy out Yamamoto or Campbell, adding to their dead space amount once more. No way they can actually ice a good roster with Bouchard likely commanding $'s north of 6/7m if he goes for the full 8. If it's a bridge, it''s still a lose-lose for Edmonton.

Like, do you secretly realize they are an incomplete team and so you are trying to convince yourself that the Oilers are good?
Are you just trying to flex on Flames fans/ other rivals?
Do you think you'll get retweeted by Connor with your over-the-top optimism?
I would think if I was an Oiler fan, I'd be critical about a disappointing season and think of ways to improve and build around McDrai while you have them.
Oiler fan gonna Oiler fan I guess.

If I'm Bouchard's agent, I would tell the Oilers that he's better than Nurse and so should get paid more than Nurse.

After the Barrie trade, Bouchard was over a PPG in regular and playoffs.
If he gets an offer at $6 mil, maybe he takes it for 1 year.

Oilers nation is trying to stay positive. They're hoping for a 2 year deal at 3.5 mill per season.
