I stumbled across Division By Zero's 2010 release: Independent Harmony. Really good stuff which is this excellent hybrid of Opeth, Riverside, Dream Theater and maybe a little Porcupine Tree.
Hey anyone here heard of either Periphery, Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, or The Faceless. All of these guys are off of Sumerian Records and they are all really f***in awesome

So after listening to some Dimmu Borgir recently (I really dig the newest album, In Sorti Diabloii), and my continue listening of Bathory (which is an amazing band by the way, Quorthon is a god), anyone got any suggestions on some black metal.
Not looking to go too extreme like some of the Norwegian bands but any suggestions?
HMV's metal selection is actually quite respectable. for the more hard to find stuff i usually buy it off Amazon
Yeah I was pleasantly surprised at their selection. When I bought Kalmah's latest CD (on release date), the clerk said "selling a lot of these today". I was really surprised as I didn't think many people knew Kalmah in Calgary.
the new album by The Ocean is pretty good, bit of an Opeth\Pelican vibe to them
Yup, I dig that Heliocentric, although not sure it's as good as Precambrian - especially the 2nd disc.
I also dig that new Black Tusk at least after the first listen. Some decent music coming out thus far this year. I've yet to get into the new Anathema, although they really aren't Metal any more.
EDIT: I forgot to mention the new The Unravelling album - 13 Arcane Hymns. If you dug Inner Surge and supporting Calgary Metal then definitely get this disc. Really good stuff.
