The only thing to complain about after that game is to wonder why Flames don't play like that more often.

Here's hoping they can change that.

Yeah you guys definitely dictated play and had the territorial advantage.

But I felt a lot of the shots Andersen faced weren't that difficult.

According to naturalstattrick Leafs had more scoring chances 30-22. Flames had more High danger chances 10-8.

And by the end of the game Flames had 77 shot attempts to Toronto's 74.

You guys are crazy. The flames controlled the play and had more shots. But scoring chances were very even. If you go back and watch the high danger scoring chances, you'll see that while the flames might have had a couple more, it was not lopsided. And the leafs' chances were subjectively better.

This team can't score because they don't get enough quality scoring chances. And thats because this team doesn't have the leeway to play fast. Playing fast is coming at the expense of Corsi. Lots of shots is coming at the expense of quality shots.

Love Backlund but that was a head scratcher no doubt.

Totally out of left field when you consider the scoring talents they had left at their disposal at that point. Feels like Gulutzan is still learning about how to best utilize his team/players. Hopefully he learns from that for the next lengthy shootout.

That was the best game the flames have played in Toronto in a long time. Great game to be at. The OT was as entertaining as it gets.
Had a great time with the leaf fans around me. Once we went to OT, I ran a book that the flames would win. $10 in.
So I lost $80 on that bet, but I’d make it again the way we played and considering our OT skills.
Great game.

My bad on the corsi, 61 corsi to 56. Not percentage.

56% high danger though according to naturalstattrick.

@Fan960Steinberg
Lots to like from the #Flames tonight. 5v5 possession 52.1% tonight, limited Toronto to 8 high danger chances at 5v5.

For even strength (all situations) on NaturalStatTrick it was:

52% Corsi For
64% Shots For
44% Scoring Chances For
60% High Danger Chances For

I do wonder if something with those scoring chances is wonky though. The other 3 numbers all point to it being a dominant game by the Flames.

As do most Leafs fans on twitter and Mike Babcock.

Any site that says the Leafs had 30 scoring chances isn't worth quoting...

You Gully haters love Mike Babcock, he thinks the Flames absolutely dominated...lets go with his numbers

If you look at the heat map, you'll find that the leafs have their chances concentrated in the high slot while the flamss have theirs concentrated at the points

That's probably why the scoring chances were the way they were

I don't feel like the Flames were able to get to many rebounds and the tips they did have were less dangerous than the ones the leafs had

30 scoring chances for the Leafs?...there is no argument, that is wrong and those numbers are worthless

same guys can keep thanking every post that mentions them but anyone with eyeballs know its not accurate

even the broadcast said the Leafs had zero chances in the 3rd and that was when there was about 4 mins left.

They got a couple max at the end

lol. Not at all. Just what I saw. If you want to think that was a dominating performance where Andersen stood on his head, feel free.
