Best Sports Bar in Calagry?
Hi All,
Just wondering where everyone thinks maybe the best bar or pub to watch Flames games is? Looking for somewhere for true Flames fans as it seems the last few years the pickings have been weak. During the 05/06 season till about 2011 there was always fans watching and following the team closely at a lot of bars but now its pretty much just a few people at most places the last few seasons.
Is Flames Central still happening for every game?
Thanks for the help!

To this day, I still refuse to frequent sports bars in Calgary that catered to Canuck fans in 2011.

Flames Central is good. Shanks is good.
I think the problem these days is that all games are on TV. It wasn't that long ago that there were at least a handful of games that you had to hit a bar to catch. That created an atmosphere that spilled over to all the other games. But for the last 5 years or so, the need for a bar to catch games - and thus the attraction of a bar to catch games - has waned.
It's sad.

Yeah I'd honestly rather watch at home or at a friend's house these days. More comfortable, less noisy, cheaper beer, etc.

I guess it depends on what entertainment your interested in. There was nothing like going to the bar to watch playoff hockey with everyone hanging on the balance.......regular season, i have to agree with outofthecube.

I like going to the Canadian Brewhouse in Harvest Hills.

Flames central, shark club are the go to's. Good vs and food. Then Schanks (bad food though).

I would second this if you're going out. Good atmosphere, good food.

Hudson's is the only downtown-ish pub I can think of these days. It's alright, sometimes drink deals during flames games

Shanks is the worst sports bar in Calgary. Terrible service and food. Oh and over inflated prices for the privilege to sit and wait forever. I'll never set foot in the place again.

Schanks is gross. It was OK 5 years ago but took a turn for the greasy and disgusting. Gay dudes in the bathroom being lewd, underaged kids, security that doesn't care about anything and lousy service. Flames Central followed by Hudson's is your best bet.

Oh, also, St James Corner does it for me! Full volume and half price wings during the game
Plus beer specials, of course?

Brewhouse is good for a lot of things. But the food isn't one of them. Burgers and wraps are pretty blah. I do like the Butter Chicken though.
