I am especially pumped about that, seeing as how I traded my FootSoilders scarf away in Montreal.

Joel Waterman is now playing for Montreal. He was subbed on after an injury, and Montreal currently has a 1-0 first half lead against Saprissa in the CONCACAF Champions League. The game is on TSN.

Notice the subtle date card for Friday in the bottom of the picture... rumours online that this is announcing that the scheduled will be released Friday

I believe in the Jays.

Hopefully lots of weekend games! Are we going to be stuck with the majority of home games right at the beginning and end of the season again?

Well, the timing of equestrian events probably won't change, so we can expect a big road trip in the middle of the season again.

Having 8 teams in the league should be a massive help when it comes to balancing the schedule. It should eliminate most if not all of the midweek games, at least as far as league play is concerned.

I don't mind the occasional midweek CanChamp or league game. It was sort of nice getting off work and going to a game.

Home openers have been announced. Cavalry's home opener is April 25 vs York. Cavalry's season begins April 11 against Forge. Full schedule is out tomorrow.

Valour is such a disaster compared to all of the rest. Their logo is by far the worst, their name is terrible and weird, and their team sucks too. They should just scrap the whole club and try again.

I'm liking a few tidbits from that press release already.
90% of matches on holidays and weekends is good. Weeknights, when they do happen, will be focused on the summer months. Also very good. Take advantage of those warm, bright evenings.
Also, a balanced schedule is great. And, perhaps best of all, there is no mention of spring and fall seasons, so my assumption is that that ship has sailed. Perhaps they'll come out with balanced spring and fall seasons, but I'd rather they just go to a balanced, single season.

Why is Athletico Ottawa's first home match so much later (May 16th) than all other teams? Are they fixing up the stadium or something?

I would suspect that is the case.

I wonder if the earlier finish is to leave some extra time for a small playoff? Have a home and home semi-final followed by a home and home final? Top seeded teams get home field advantage in the second leg.
I'm a bit of a soccer purist, so in some ways I like the idea of total points deciding the champion. Simple and traditional. But on the other hand, having the top 4 teams enter a quick playoff would be good marketing for the league and would appeal to that North American mentality of having a little icing on the cake at the end of the season.
Of course, this wouldn't be as gimmicky as the MLS in the early days (breakaway penalty shots, clock running upwards, etc.) but it wouldn't surprise me. It would give other teams something to play for as the season drags on and one or two teams are running away with it.

There are rumours that is what they've done, also doing away with the Fall/Spring season structure.

I'll take that. The unbalanced spring/fall seasons was a bit awkward.
I can't recall where I heard it (a podcast somewhere), but apparently the initial idea was for the spring champion was supposed to represent the CanPL in the Concacaf league. Which would have made perfect sense.
But throw in a few variables like... Concacaf, the CSA, Forge, etc. and we got the little charade of a qualification process between Forge, Valour, and Edmonton. And the chosen ones were chosen.

We're approaching the club to try and get bussing up to Edmonton for the April 18 game. Fingers crossed they can get something set up.

This is a great idea. I have been to a few away games in England to watch Norwich City, and you basically buy your away ticket and optional bus ticket through the club in advance, show up at the home stadium at a specific time, and away you go. You don't have to think about logistics all day long except for getting back on the bus afterwards. This can obviously be scaled for demand, and having a central pickup point would make more sense than Spruce Meadows.
Of course, you can get to half of England in the same time that a drive to Edmonton takes, so the away supporters culture is much different over there, with some supporters going to most or all away games as well as home games. But for the one city that is within a reasonable distance to us, this is a very good thing to start working on.
