Well priced bridge deal. Ends with Letang's deal, which should be used to pay the next contract for McCann and Rust.

I don’t think “upper” is the right word.

Mangiapane is better than McCann, McCann has just played more despite being the same age.

Mangiapane’s deal interests the hell out of me. He is trending to be a key piece for this team. Fantastic 5v5 player and is just starting to get PP time on a competent PP unit. Given the cap structure of the team, I’m not even sure how they go longer term with Mang without restructuring the cap situation because anything longer than 3 years likely starts with a 4 and the longer it is the closer to 5 per you get.

- 1 year doesn’t make sense because of the flat cap.
- 2 years likely makes the most sense - so if you factor in Tree’s wizardry, perhaps that gets done at 2.75M but at the same time Mang has arb rights, and to me this paints a picture that on 2 years his deal is at least 2.94M.
- 3 years walks him to free agency at the earliest possible date

This just looks like a tough contract to me.

Yikes, no thanks to any of that. 1 decent season does not make a 4 or 5 million dollar a year player. At LW to boot.

I'm grateful that Treliving is a great RFA contract negotiator because he's not going to do any of this.

This is a number that I have seen for a 3-4 year deal for Magiapane. 2 years for McCann at this is 500k too much for me...

Is McCann an RFA or a UFA after this deal?
