If you're trading for Laughton and playing on the wing while having problems with the cap, the obvious solution is a separate trade that sends out a centre for cap space.

They then have 2 full years to convince Johnny to re-sign... which shouldn't be a problem considering their cap space and NJ being VERY close to where Johnny grew up

It's a nice thought, but could you imagine if Calgary was shipping off players and acquiring high draft picks only to spend them on a soon to be UFA player ready to demand a huge contract? It just doesn't make sense from a NJ perspective. They aren't trying to win a cup in the next two seasons.

Well, that likely pays for Taylor Hall. So there is that.

Yeah, the Devils just let an elite winger in his prime walk because they’re rebuilding. Why would they spend a top 8 first round pick a year later to acquire another one?

His professional play is pretty good right now but nonetheless I think he is valued higher than he should be. I'd personally value Farabee over Frost. Higher pick, younger, more professional success.

His AHL season was not terrific? Did you look closer at his numbers and then look at them in context? 2nd in the team in scoring, with 29 points, one point off the team lead. 2nd in the team in goals with 13, two off the team lead. And he did it in 16 less games than the team leader. Yes, he had a really good first year on a really ####ty minor league team. The Flyers are super high on this kid for good reason. He's a player. The reason Farabee made the team this season is because LW is a weakness for the Flyers. Frost is a center, and the Flyers want him playing in the middle, which is why he was held back. We grab Frost I am confident we will be getting at worst a 2nd line center. Kid has all the skills to be a top end pivot.

Thread restart
Well...
I ended up having to go out shortly after posting this thread and couldn't be around to respond to comments and it quickly devolved into just another trade thread. I guess I could have been clearer but my posts were already so long.
First of all big thanks to the one person that actually did what the thread was calling for and posting a thought-out possible Calgary-Philadelphia trade. Not so much to the New Jersey trades which started in post 5. We will do New Jersey, I promise. Right now it’s Philadelphia
Maybe I was being too bold having rules regarding posting in this thread. Especially when I don’t really have any way of enforcing them.
But we can try again and see if it works
IN THIS THREAD WE ARE POSTING POSSIBLE GAUDREAU TRADES AND COMMENTING ON THOSE. WE WILL BE FOCUSING ON ONE POTENTIAL TRADE PARTNER AT A TIME. FOR GENERAL TRADE DISCUSSION PLEASE USE THE OTHER APPROPRIATE THREADS

I feel like you didn't read all my post.I flipped JVR immediately to another team. Obviously his contract didn't work but I tried, and may have, found a team that would take it

Tried that first. I could make it work for us but not for Philly

Honestly if buffalo is cutting salary and needs to get under 70 mil I say we help them out
Johnny, hanifin and a 2nd for Eichel and Risto.. seems good

Laughton is only 1 year to UFA. Don’t like it unless you can sign him to an extension before consummating the trade.
PHI’s RD depth is thin. After the upcoming season, it consists of:
Myers
That’s it, that’s the list. At least from cap friendly, where they’ve got one other late round pick and career AHLers (maybe they’ve got more in the pipe in Europe?). Don’t think they move him.
I really don’t see the urgency for PHI to do this.

Other than Philly I don't think we can know this.
With each team I will post how far (in km) the city is from Salem NJ

Ya you made a completely unrealistic deal. JVR for Murray??? Zero chance that deal happens. The Pens are looking for first round picks for Murray not overpaid 31 year old wingers.

For who? It seems even to slightly in the Flyers favour if Gaudreau gets back to his normal numbers.
