Official 14 is out now so no need for the GM beta.

Please tell me iOS 14 fixes the email issues I've had since I installed iOS 13.

If the sleep cycle app keeps crashing is my only option a reset? I opted out of the beta last night (when I saw the problem) and it's still crashing. I don't mind doing a reset and restore was just hoping there may be another trick I have come across yet.

I like that they came out with a translator. Not sure about the app library page. I kind of know where I put all of my apps.

Is this using its own integrated covid tracing app or do I still need it installed?

Hopefully some more key apps come out with widgets soon.

Going to be hard to keep all my most used apps on the first 2 pages.

You need your local COVID app installed.

Is this a third party app or the built in health one? If it’s built in it means a setting is causing the crash. Most times it’s a sound file that’s not compatible.

Fully close the app and try a reboot. If that doesn’t work you can try to just reset settings. Then if nothing else you can do an ispw update which will over write the current iOS and hopefully fix the corrupt file. If that doesn’t work your SOL without a restore.

Yes, the built in clock app. I'll try the settings reset first.

The ipsw update sounds interesting and I'll look to do that or at least set up for it. I do have a recovery image from before the beta so I might just reset and restore that and then update to 14. I don't store anything locally on the phone so no big deal to reset really.

Appreciate all of the advice.

Apparently there is no reporting available yet if you live in Alberta.

App: "People in your province or territory are not yet able to report a COVID-19 diagnosis through this app. It's still helpful to turn COVID Alert on. That way, when people are able to report a diagnosis, you'll be notified if you were near them."

Basically I've installed Health Canada's version of a "Hello World" app.

So happy to see they still haven't moved the flashlight button on the iPhone lock screen to a spot less likely to be pressed accidentally in iOS 14....

You could count the number of times that's happened to me on both hands even if you cut eight of my fingers off. No matter where it gets moved to, someone somewhere is going to find a way to accidentally turn the thing on with a long press. Maybe keeping the location but changing to a double-tap makes more sense.

It’s on the lockscreen? I haven’t seen the flashlight icon on there. I just have it set up on the “swipe up” panel. The only thing ob my lockscreen is the camera.

Are you a “Home button holdout” like I was on my iPhone 8, or are you on a FaceID device?

And there's no timeline for when it might be available. Nice job Kenney!

Widgets and Smart Stack need improvement. Up next doesn’t work anymore and instead is just a calendar. Up next should show my next appt but it doesn’t. Just says nothing scheduled.

Music widget for recently played is useless. Need more options.

Should be able to move the old style widgets above/below the new ones but won’t let me. I want ESPN on top and the new widgets below.

And the largest size widget doesn’t auto resize. I wanted to use it for BT and Battery, and I want the level of detail of the large widget but I only have three items. List is big enough for five or six. But it doesn’t auto shrink. It leaves this massive empty space.

And Face ID for passwords is still broken. For home unlocking if Face ID doesn’t work it immediately goes to passcode. When using login info/passwords it tries Face ID twice, with no passcode prompt until both Face ID attempts have failed. So annoying.

Oh and apps requiring Face ID or passcode to open should be an option for every single app. Even within apps (like hidden photos). I’m amazed it’s taken this long for them to implement it but it only works for like two of my apps.

Face ID is great when it works but I'm with you that it gets annoying when wearing a mask. I'm hoping that because they added Touch ID to the new iPad Air it will be coming to the iPhone 12 and other iPads.

I am still on a iPhone 7. I kind of miss my 5S. It was so compact.

That's why, I believe the flashlight and camera buttons are only on devices without a home button.

No one talking about the iphone line up?

Apple will no longer include a charging cable, especially important now that they've moved to USB C or whatever, they also aren't including headphones anymore. They're doing it for the environment though (seriously they said this), not to squeeze every last penny out of consumers. Oh and the new 12 pro is like a million dollars or something.

iPhone 12 = iPhone 4 (price and name x3). And arounnnnd we go!

iPhone 4 was my favourite form factor, but I'm now firmly in the camp of riding my phones until they die.
