Remember that time that Serge Gnabry played for Arsenal?
Me neither.

My word, United had no business in that - de Gea stole it.

Bayern up 5-0 at half-time at Leverkusen. This was supposed to be top game ... probably the most lopsided top league and it's only going to get worse.

really good campaign for Salzburg so far ... 7 points from the first three games, and they should have beaten Sevilla too (they had three pens and only scored one, ffs). Hope they can finish the job and make it to the last 16.
wonder where Karim Adeyemi ends up. I'd be shocked if he didn't play for a top team within a year or two.

United play Liverpool this weekend. It's going to be almost poetic when Solskjaer is fired in similar circumstances as Mourinho ... finished 2nd, then completely failed to build on that and sacked after a loss to Liverpool.

I always hate it when club legends take these jobs and then crash and burn. Only way for him to salvage his legacy with the fans is to walk, but that will obviously not happen. Too much money on the line and we all know he'll get nowhere near a PL job again. Just sad it ends this way.

This is basically it, isn't it? If Ole came onto the market tomorrow which teams would be lining up to sign him? Championship teams, maybe. But no one in the PL or any of the top five leagues would make a move for him. Just makes giving him that extension before the year even stranger, he did nothing to earn it and there was no chance another team would poach him.

It sucks, certainly. But like you said, he's never going to make this kind of money anywhere ever again, so take the money and run.
What really sucks is that he was kind of set up to fail. He's in way over his head and everyone knew it. He's got some good players, its not like United are a bunch of talentless scrubs or anything, but yeah, he's never getting another job like this. Are there any other clubs out there scrambling for Ole's services?
If he hadnt been a United Legend during a tumultuous time he never even would have gotten this job.

the thing is, I actually think he did a decent job cleaning up Mourinhos mess and getting the club back on track. It's also his downfall though, it's a far better squad than a couple of years ago and there's bigger expectations now. He can't hide behind excuses anymore and it's become obvious he can't take the next step with that team. Giving him that new contract made no sense at the time and it just looks worse and worse in hindsight.

I don't know, wasn't there a poster here telling us how good Ole was?

Basically agreed.
When the expectations were lower, he met and exceeded them. He is just not the guy thats going to move United into PL contention or compete in the Champions' League.
He's in over his head.
And that contract extension? I dont know what that was about. Placating the fans by paying a Legend after the SuperLeague debacle? I have no idea. That extension makes no sense.
