Nemisz with a goal tonight. Spitfires lost in the SO to Owen Sound 5-4.
During the 2nd period Nemisz went hard into the boards and when trying to get off didn't look like he knew where he was, went to the dressing room, but did come back thank goodness.

haha right when I posted how Nemisz and Brodie did tonight the above post showed up lol.
Are you sure Brodie had 3 assists..The OHL site has him at 2 assists.
Also the Heat won 2-1 in a shoot-out
Backlund was stopped, but Chucko and Jaffray scored.
Backlund scored our goal in regulation.
Germyn and Sutter with the assists.
Irving was in net and had 30 saves in regultion and overtime combined, he also stopped all four shooters in the shoot-out.

Looks like they took one away. He did have 3 when I looked like half an hour ago. Nonetheless a good night for our OHL kids.

Thought some people would be interested in knowing that Mikael Backlund scored the game winner today as Abbotsford beat Lake Erie 2-1. Excluding his first 4 games when he went pointless, he has 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 10 games and is plus 1. Definitely starting to improve.

I believe he is know tied with Chucko for most goals on the team with 5.
Colin Stuart scored the other goal today.
It looks like Irving played great again today.

Gaelan Patterson +1 last night for Saskatoon, the WHL's best team.
Alexander Deilert's profile appears on the Djurgardens website but list his stats this year for Mora IK (Sweden's 2nd highest league). Is there some kind of loan arrangement or does Mora IK serve as some sort of farm team? Anyway, Deilert's stats look pretty good for a defenceman so far:

Reggie, if i'm not mistaken you missed John Negrin on the original post.
Speaking of which, anyone know how he's doing?

I heard in an interview that Playfair has Negrin working solely on his defensive game to make him a well rounded defenseman.
He has 5 assists so far and is a +1.

Just in case no one was following it.
Leland Irving has a .925 sv% and a 2.20 GAA in the 11 games he has played. The only goalies that have come close to the amount of games he has played and have put up those numbers are the other great goalie prospects of other teams. Corey Crawford, Schneider and Devan Dubnyk.

I love the idea of Playfair teaching our impressive paddock of defensive prospects pro-game defense.
We may well could develop some top quality defencemen in the next 3 to 4 years.

a really strong 2 way game by Neimsz. He's turning into a solid if unspectacular player who can play in all situations. I don't think he'll ever be the classic Cam Neely or Dustin Brown style PF who punishes on the forecheck. However, his increased willingness to throw his weight around is a step in the right direction and his puck protection skills and driving to the net are some of the best in the OHL. Habing a hard time coming up with a comparable, but a poor man's Rick Nash with a little Smyth thrown in there isn't too far off the mark. Great hand-eye in front of the net (think smyth or Langkow in that regard) and is turning into a very solid penalty killer. If he develops a little more explosiveness he'd could turn into a a star player.
I've got to throw in some praise for Austin Watson. This kid is going to be unreal when he actually fills out. Great speeed for such a big guy, takes the puck hard to the net and has a very good 2-way toolbox already.

Thanks for the report. How is his skating, is it hampering the explosiveness that you write about?
