Re watched Grease and it's still amazing, top 10 musical for me. John Travolta is just the man, especially during this time, and Olivia Newton John (RIP) is amazing in this as well. So many amazing timeless songs, it's a true classic.
I think I know this movie off by heart. Watched it on repeat as a kid on our Betamax.

I own movies on 8 different physical media formats and sadly one of them isn't betamax.....yet
Continuing with musicals, next was Xanadu. What a bizarre movie, but you know what it works for me. The film is like a fantasy/musical disco and stars Gene Kelly Olivia Newton John and Michael Beck and is about this angel who comes to earth to convince Kelly and a young guy to build a disco in LA called Xanadu. There are so many wacky wtf crazy moments in this one, but it's this beautiful looking movie with catchy songs (several by ELO) that must have been fuelled by writers on cocaine. This movie should be way more known, it's a hell of a good time.

I think my dad had a thing for Olivia Newton John because I've seen Xanadu more than once hah.

So if there has ever been a post that summed up what you're about, this is definitely it.

Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is amazing, Pedro Pascal is the perfect guy to play off the insanity of an unchained Nick Cage. Them tripping balls together on acid is probably one of the best scenes in any movie from the past 10 years

Super Mario Bros Movie is great! If you grew up playing all the variations of the games you'll love it. There's no real story to the movie but it doesn't matter. The visuals are incredible and the pacing is super-fast. Just a fun movie to watch.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the fantasy world building, comedy, and fast pace. Lots of interesting characters too, lead by Chris Pine who brings a ton of charisma. The characters were well developed with a good balance of flashbacks to set up followed by rewarding arcs. Also liked the non serious tone and the use of humour playing against fantasy expectations. Only real gripe was the final act change from a fun heist movie to needing to save the world but it somehow still kind of worked and stuck the landing. 9/10

Kevin Kline is a treasure and Cowboys fighting Aliens is a hilariously ridiculous premise that really pays off!
Besides...you tell Will Smith that 'Wild Wild West' was a terrible film! I'll stand back here and watch.
lol.
I do love me some Kevin Kline though. I used to think he was always better in any role where he had a moustache. It's hard to believe he's 75 years old.
You guys seen Tetris yet? AppleTV or maybe Netflix? Can't remember, but it is absolutely awesome. Loved it. Has Eggsie (or however it's spelled) from Kingsmen in it.
Also PSA: Criteron Channel this month has a bunch of Lynch AND Michael Mann's Manhunter if you want to be like me and cross things off your same list.
Very excited to finally watch Manhunter

Manhunter is great. I know some people don't like it because the production design and soundtrack is very '80s, making it look and 'feel' markedly different from the very glum-looking The Silence of the Lambs and 2002's Red Dragon (which basically copied the look of The Silence of the Lambs, but amusingly had the same cinematographer as Manhunter: Dante Spinotti ).
As someone who loves Neo Noirs, heist films, and Micheal Mann I was always impressed by how terribly boring I found Thief. I’ve tried to sit through it a half dozen times and it is so utterly uninteresting I am always surprised to see it on lists of genre classic films. Nothing about it is intriguing in any fashion.
Thief looks really good, and maybe more than Miami Vice (2006) it's maybe Mann's most vibes movie. Where it works or doesn't for you.
( I love Miami Vice)
