Jets trade Laine (26% retained) and Roslovic to Columbus for PLD and 2022 3rd
perhaps time to split the discussion away from the rumor mega thread and LeBrun is usually very good with Flames stuff
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
List of teams that I believe have inquired with Columbus on Pierre-Luc Dubois, obviously some with more seriousness than others (in no particular order):
Anaheim, Minnesota, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary, Ottawa, Rangers, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington and Arizona.
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
It goes without saying that I think other teams have as well.
Now the question is which teams can satisfy what the CBJ want. This won't be a futures-only deal. I think Columbus wants this to be a hockey deal if/when they proceed.

Quote:
One day after Pierre-Luc Dubois’s benching became the talk of the NHL, Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen aggressively pursued trading his unhappy centre — with the belief a trade could come as soon as Saturday morning.
According to multiple sources, the Winnipeg Jets’ package includes two players of their own who have requested trades — Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic (Roslovic, who is unsigned, is a Columbus native). Anaheim is believed to have significantly increased its offer. Calgary and Montreal are among the other interested parties, and there are undoubtedly more. (As I write this, it is not believed the Canadiens are willing to include Nick Suzuki, although what’s true now might not be true 10 minutes from now.)
The Blue Jackets host Tampa Bay on Saturday afternoon, but, even if a move is not completed, Dubois is not expected to be in the lineup.

News UpdateDarren Dreger @DarrenDreger
A trade call is being set up between the Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets to complete trade sending Laine and Roslovic to Columbus for Pierre Luc Dubois. A draft pick to the Jets May also be included.

PLD was apparently benched last night for over half the game as well...

The Rangers have all kinds of assets to play with, if they are at all serious about acquiring him.

Yeah, they are the ones that make the most sense.
Whoever acquires him will have to outbid everyone else. Don’t think Columbus is in a rush to deal him, even though they know they have to.

I'd love PLD but I just don't see how Winnipeg doesn't win this.
Roslovic is literally in Columbus right now and they have several other potential chips to make a deal with. Including Laine!
If Chevy is willing to work at it there has to be a deal that most of the other teams can't match.

Trading two disgruntled superstars who want out of their respective lame markets for each other and ensuring neither actually gets what they really want is an outcome I can root for.

I’m still on board to do a Monahan + picks for Dubois deal, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be sad about losing Monahan. He’s been mostly great for the Flames ever since being drafted.

Hard pass. A selfish player who quits on his team is someone I wouldn’t touch with a 10 foot pole. How long until he pulls the same stunt on a new team when things don’t go his way?

Monahan gets absolutely no respect. He’s 7th all time in franchise goal scoring FFS, and he’s barely halfway through his second contract.
I share the frustrations of many watching him play, because he should be more than he is.
But anyone who thinks Bennett or Backlund could do Monahan’s job is incorrect.

Reason: Monahan is 7th all time in Flames goal scoring - obviously

Like any trade, depends on price. Would like to get him here, but wary of the cost.

I’m convinced Tre has a spreadsheet that includes every player in the league and their trade value, and updates it monthly.

Kotkaniemi for Pierre Luc Dubois straight up --- Finland connection in Columbus, and Quebecois connection in Montreal.

Find a video of his shift. He embarrassed himself and demonstrated incredibly poor character

Hope the Flames drop out of this. Competing with all of those teams will result in significant overpayment that would change the structure of the team. The team is set to gel, we finally have a great goalie, and ready to make some noise.

For the record, I don't think Bennett or Backlund could do Monahan's job. Not at all.
