Ha-Seong Kim obviously would have helped

Yes, they should definitely add, but it doesn't have to be a $100-200+ million contract type of player.
Lindor and Carrasco would have been great....for 2021. After that though Lindor would struggle to provide value for his contract, or else he and all the assets given up to get him would be gone into thin air.

I still feel like trade is the best route for this team, the prospect cabinet is full of attractive pieces, and one or two significant trades would not make that significant a dent in the pool of talent.
Bryants value is going to be somewhat suppressed because of his 30 bad games last year but the guy is a stud and should be the Jays top target. The Cubs and Red Sox are stripping down their rosters and the Jays should be all over this.

Looks like Lemahieu is heading back to the Yankees. It's going to be around 5 years @ $90m. He is the 1st big name I am disappointed we missed out on, but I think he was always going back to NY. Best hitter available

4-5 days ago it was reported Lemahieu was upset with the Yankees and told his agents to re engage other teams. Today he has a deal
Looks like the Jays were just leverage.

Off-season isn't over yet, however the Jays have been a none factor so far.

Who do you consider key pieces? Outside of Vlad Jr this teams has been built almost entirely by the current management. Bichette, Biggio, Hernandez, Pearson, LGJ, Ryu were all either drafted, or signed, by the current management team.
I agree they need help to take the next step but I don't think that means you ignore the success they've had in getting here.

The Jays signed a big free agent today. Manuel Beltre, sounds like he was the top bat in this year's international free agent pool.

That's weird, sorry.
The Jays just finally officially announced that they signed international free agent Manuel Beltre.

Vlad Jr, Danny Jansen, Rowdy Tellez are from the previous group.
I thought the previous management also signed Bichette and Baggio.
Not convinced the current GM will acquire the assets they need to make them a contender.....
Of course no one wants to them make horrible trades or agree to bad contracts.

With Lamahieu I thought the four year $90MM contract is really reasonable. When it came out earlier this week that he was upset at the Yanks, that it was a bargaining ploy by the agent for leverage, and certainly now it appears to be. But the price was cheaper than I would have thought, with a good term. Now with money drying up with the past couple signings there are less team competition so there’s probably going to be some additional signings happening over the next couple weeks. Jays better get someone with all this talk.

Bauer, Springer, Realmuto.
Are we gonna get any of these three?

I think they will. Realmuto has been silent. I’d want him but I have no clue. Springer seems the most likely but it seems he’s waiting for the Mets to give more money. Bauer is playing the market. He’s the only pitcher and he’ll wait until someone matches his price but I don’t think it’ll be the Jays. The Jays management gets tired of loud players.
Unfortunately I think Springer will get overpaid and will be a Jay if the Mets don’t meet his price.

Fingers crossed Springer will choose to sign with the Jays.
Not sure how likely that is however....
I would guess no to the other two

I really like Bauer, and I don't really get the knock on his personality. He's honest, he does like to market himself and be in the spotlight, but I don't see those things as bad. He is probably one of my favorite players in baseball right now. I think the Jays should be all in on him.

I guess the Bauer personality can be polarizing. All of us have worked with people who say me and I to everything. It’s all about them. To some personalities it’s nothing but to some it can be super annoying. I’m on the side that it comes across as their show and everyone else is in it. Right or wrong. Others have a thicker skin. When Stroman was doing more or less it rubbed a lot of us the wrong way. Not from a baseball traditional standpoint because I don’t care. But from a human standpoint that he should just shut up and pitch. Keep the emotion but quit the me me me. Bauer I feel the same way.
