Sure sounds a lot windier out right now than what Weather Network and Environment Canada is saying.

Environment Canada is staffed exclusively by former Postal Workers who couldnt stand the excitement of letter delivery.

I thought the problem was Calgary or Alberta didn’t have any real weather stations or something? It’s pretty much look at the weather everywhere else, lick you finger to figure out what’s coming for us.

W have weather stations but we don't have offices anymore. So it's done out of Winnipeg. I think that leads to a bit of a loss of local experiences for forecasters who just look at models and data. If you are looking for who to blame for that, it's Harper.

You can also check out the Nav Canada forecasts (Terminal Area Forecast) for YYC (you can select a "plain language" option):

https://flightplanning.navcanada.ca/...p&TypeDoc=html

Note the forecast times are in UTC.

Another reason for the forecasts being less accurate lately is a lack of commercial aircraft data. Link: Why COVID-19 made weather forecasts less reliable
