Joey Murray (RHP) 4Y Junior Kent State University.

Quote:
Murray’s fastball typically runs from 87-88 mph and can touch 91, and the right-hander features a good curveball and decent slider and changeup. All of those pitches are made much better by a deceptive delivery that confounds opposing hitters, particularly the fastball, which seems like it’s coming in much hotter than the upper-80s.
He has really good NCAA stats... low velo on his fastball must have scared teams off.

Two high schoolers in the first 3 picks is definitely a gamble but could pay off big time.
I actually have a lot of faith in the Jays scouting. It's looked pretty good the last couple drafts so far, although very earlier, and some of the names/backgrounds they added to the scouting staff look really promising. So I don't mean to criticize, just personally I was hoping for a few arms to add to what I think is a very shallow pool.

But like I said, I do think their strategy looks very sounded and it you believe MLBs rankings its working. Their 1 of 3 teams that I can see that grabbed 3 top 50 prospects. 1 of the other ones drafted in the top 10 and the other had a CBA mandated sandwich pick.

Estrada working on a 4 hit shout out through 5 innings.

Of course, not getting any run support as Sabathia is besting him while working on a 1 hitter.

Teo smashes a dinger in the bottom of 6 to give the Jays a 1-0 lead.

Then Estrada promptly gives up a lead off single in the top of 7, leading to a pitching change. Oh into the game.

We all know what's coming now don't we?

Oh comes in and beans Gregorius, then walks Hicks.

Bases loaded, no one out. Andujar hits a slam.

This team is a collective piece of ####.

Tepera has been steady whatever role he's been given. 8th or 9th inning.
Hernandez is doing well and getting experience.

Day Three of the draft continues... not gonna go pick by pick because most of the guys are just presumptive org fillers but I'll note anything interesting...

11. Hunter Steinmetz, OF, Missouri State
12. Nick Allgeyer, LHP, University of Iowa
13. Brad Wilson, RHP, Ohio Dominican (Division II)
14. John Aiello, 3B, Wake Forest
15. Troy Watson, RHP, Northern Colorado
16. Josh Hiatt, RHP, University of North Carolina
17. Austin Havekost, RHP, Kent State
18. Fitz Stadler, RHP, Arizona State
19. Adrian Ramos, OF, Miami Dade CC
20. Vinny Capra, SS, University of Richmond
21. Kobby Lopez, LHP, Imperial HS (California)
22. Gage Burland, RHP, Lewis & Clark State
23. Troy Squires, C, University of Kentucky
24. Pascoe, Mike, RHP, San Jacinto Col North
25. Will McAffer, RHP, Tulane (LA)

The most interesting guy here is Aiello, he's had a terrible year but raked his sophomore year. If you're like Tabler and like them Big'n'Strong Fitz Stadler is 6'9 230 or if you like to root for the little guy Vinny Capra is 5'8 160.

Vlad pulled from game in 4th inning.

TSN Video

As if this season wasn't enough of an abortion, now its leaking down to the minors.

Hopefully not too serious.

Yeah Aiello and Stadler caught my eye while looking through the picks.

Any info on the 6'9 pitcher? That's a big kid.

Gotta be a 'project' pick... by which I mean the Jays are taking him thinking that they can turn him into something that he presently isn't (namely good). He's mostly been a reliever he walks as many as he's struck out and has a 5.96 ERA.

But you can't learn downhill plain so I imagine some scout thinks that if you get him into the pros you can coach him up some. Really for the 536th selection there are worse bets to make.
