I want to see the opposite. As long as the fans keeping buying the product ownership doesn’t care if the product is mediocre.

Alex Petrovic scratched for fourth straight game. "We need to see more composure from him," said Oiler coach Ken Hitchcock.

Somewhere in Chicago there are pints being raised and people laughing uncontrollably.
They might even buy Ol' Pete a Pint!
Thanks Pete!

“But yeah, it’s just a pool of negativity in Edmonton. Man, it just cannot get better. They cannot shake it. And it was interesting for me today to see Ken Hitchcock up in the stands while Glen Gulutzan took over practice for the Edmonton Oilers from a coaching perspective.

Could it be? GG as next Oilers head coach?

Petrovic came from FLA.
...but they are still cheersing Pete in Chicago too. And on the Island. And in NJ. And in Dallas. And in Winnipeg. And again on the Island.
Basically everywhere in the league loves Pete except Boston and Edmonton.

Possibly, but that was when Chiarelli was still GM. Maybe the OBC preferred GG, but Chia convinced them that Hitch was the answer.
I have learned not to assume any rational logic is applied to management decisions in Edmonton.

Is this what Oiler players must do for "community" service? Write fluffing articles for McDavid using poorly chosen pseudonyms?

I was in the same row as that guy who threw the jersey against Chicago. The look on his face was just disgust. He was shaking his head on his way back up the stairs and some little old lady usher went up to him (to obviously boot him out for throwing objects onto the ice) but he didn't need anyone to usher him out. He was done with the Oilers that game in the micro and macro sense. He wasn't even pissed. Just done. No doubt in my mind that he was a STH who is not renewing.
I was gonna post a vid, but my video is exactly like the one that went viral. I think I might even be in that viral one.

That's a great story. One of those timeless ''where were you'' moments throughout life.
- Where were you when Trump was elected?
- Where were you during Henderson's Summit Series goal?
- Where were you when Canada won Gold in Men's hockey in '02?
-Where were you when the double Oiler's jersey toss occurred?

No he's going to take them into a YEG transit cab and crack open beers, forget about hockey and have some honest conversation about life.
Stick toss comes in March after the bump from the train beers wears off.

I thought The Athletic were above that type of article, to be honest. Positivity is one thing but while the writing is better and the article clearly involved some research/interviewing, the sentiment is no different to Staples et al.
I did like this typo though:
"Mark Messier, the last player to captain the Oilers to a Stanley Cup championship, was known for his in-your-face, no-sense style."
It even had a 'c'mon Benny, let's go' comment in there, an example of the highest level of leadership matched only by that time he tapped Draisatl on the shoulder after losing and said those immortal words 'let's go get changed, hit the town and get Rickity Rickity wrecked, son'.
