"Slant-drilling" is actually a thing. But it's usually preferred to go in vertical and then bend.

How did they get hosed over with the resevoir?

I think this was brought up in this thread a few months ago I think and yes compared todays dollars they got hosed but they seemed to get a good deal for what land was going for at the time they signed the deal.

If everyone b!tched and complained about land deals singed 20+ years ago the whining would be so loud the earth would explode.

Not sure about TT but other reserves in Alberta own the mineral rights.

Those plans were possibilties for avoiding buying up houses for a 37th Street Alignment, not a "going under the Tsuu Tina" alignment.

I prefer the idea of a arching bridge, on which littering laws will be suspended so that we may rain down our garbage upon the land and people below. As an added bonus, we can hang long curtains underneath to block the setting sun when it gets in the eyes of homeward bound commuters in the SW.

Paving the whole reserve still seems like the best option.

They named her after the method of building elevated roads. They just misspelled it.

The TT are problably one of the richest bands in alberta next to the Hobema. They also administer all the royalty revenue that most if not all the indian bands receive through the IOGC. That's how they paid for that fancy building off of 37th street.

Even still, There is a limit as to the depth that is viable to a landowner. Therefore, the government could tunnel under their lands and they couldn't really do much about it. It is similar to having a limit above the surface of your land. You can't stop air traffic from flying over your property. The limit of your ownership of your property above and below the surface isn't really that far, relatively speaking.

Default South East Ring Road Insider Information?

Anyone have information on timeline and progress of the South East Stony Trail Ring Road? I take 22x and 84th street to work everyday and am interested in the progress. It's been really interesting to see the earthworks and roadworks take shape the past few years.

As the project nears completion, Particularly what I'm looking for is;

-Completion dates and timelines for the various sections of the project (overpasses, road work, lights, etc. ).
-Will they be doing a phased opening? IE, it looks like portions of the ring road are already paved with lighting towers in place. Will portions of the ring road be open before others?
- Total project is scheduled for completion Fall 2013. Is this date accurate?
- Project hurdles: Any major challenges or hurdles that contractors are facing?
- Why isn't there any access to the ring road over 61st ave. Plans show it as a flyover.
- Bridgework/overpass: Why is the cranston overpass bridge taking so long? How are the other overpasses progressing?

Public info is on website www.sestproject.ca. But again, I'm looking for insider info.

No insider info needed here. The issues with Deerfoot right now are largely to do with how close all the exits are to each other. If you make 61st an exit, you would mess up the flow of the Ring Road.

I think the overpass itself is essentially done, but if you look closely at the plans, it is very much intertwined with the Deerfoot interchange and therefore requires a lot of it to be complete before the overpass can open. In fact, access from Stoney to the Cranston overpass is quite limited, with access to and from the East side being non-existent.

I would think the weather this winter would have a pretty huge impact on the schedule, but progress appears to be going according to plan so far.

From what I can see, glenmore trail might be the first road rerouted over the new bridge. I'm guessing that the 22x portion will be open first, because the road is already operating there. I don't think any of the east side is going to open early.

According to Yahoo at Skyscraperpage, the new cheif wants the road to be tolled and on leased land.

Time to go over the Weasel Head and block access to the Casino from that point.

Even if something else can be nogotiated over time, it just isnt worth it anymore, time to push ahead
